The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced corporate /commercial lawyer, with 8+ years’ PQE experience to join Yorkshire County Cricket Club on a part-time one-year fixed term as the Club’s first in-house lawyer /Club Secretary reporting to the Chief Executive Officer.

The key expectation of the role is to manage club secretarial and governance matters for the Club and provide general in-house legal support. Previous experience of working in a fast paced in house role is highly preferable. The role would suit an intelligent all-rounder with solid foundations in corporate and commercial matters, a strong focus on secretarial matters and governance with experience in data privacy.

About You

We are looking for a proactive and talented individual with previous experience working on general company and commercial matters (including contract reviews) with demonstrable in-house skills and substantial corporate governance and corporate secretarial experience.

You will have excellent communication and IT skills and attention to detail. You will be proficient in preparing legal documents, presentations and should have prior experience in legal database management.

You will be an organised, diligent individual who is comfortable with multi-tasking and working in an ever-changing and fast-paced environment. You have the highest personal standards of integrity and judgement, be a proactive and pragmatic problem-solver and have a keen understanding of business with an ability to diagnose legal problems and present sensible solutions and alternatives.

You will be a team participant who is able to move beyond being just the lawyer to the team and work effectively across different and diverse teams. As a skilled relationship builder, you are one whose counsel and judgment is sought with strong commercial awareness and customer orientation.
