The reigning Yorkshire Premier League Champions Sheriff Hutton Bridge visited Weetwood on Saturday.

The Yorkshire Academy won the toss and on a sunny and warm day decided to bat. Despite losing a wicket to the first ball of the innings Matthew Weston and captain Will Luxton put on an excellent 2nd wicket partnership of 208 from 235 balls before Luxton fell for 103 from 120 balls with 9 fours and 2 sixes.

Matthew Weston also completed his century before being run out for 106 from 137 balls with 10 fours. In the quest for quick runs the Academy continued to lose wickets and ended the 50 overs on an impressive total of 278 for 8.

Dulash Udayanga took three wickets in the final over to finish with 4 for 50 from 12 overs.

The Sheriff Hutton Bridge openers Mark Fisher and Avish Patel put on 59 before Patel was dismissed. Tommy Hudson joined Fisher and the pair took the score to 109 before Fisher fell 63 from 76 balls with 7 fours. Dulash Udayanga joined Hudson and they shared the third half century partnership before Hudson fell for 41. From 160 for 2 the visitors collapsed to 196 all out from 46.3 overs.

The wickets were shared between James Mukherjee 3 for 29, Harry Sullivan 3 for 54. Ed Booth 2 for 56 and Yash Vagadia 1 for 37.

It was another good performance as the Academy remained in 5th place in the table, eight points behind top of the table Acomb with Castleford and Woodhouse Grange joint second a point behind with eight matches played.
