Scorecard

Yorkshire Academy made a return to Yorkshire League North action at Weetwood with a home fixture against Scarborough, with both teams not competing in the shortened season in 2020.

After winning the toss Yorkshire Academy elected to bat and were soon 35 for 4 in the 12th over. The young Academy side continued to struggle against tight bowling from the five strong Scarborough attack and were bowled out for a disappointing total of 97 from 39.1 overs. Only three batsmen plus extras reached double figures. Ben Elvidge 4 for 13 from 7.1 overs with two maidens was the main wicket taker. The opening pair of James Wainman 2 for 26 from 10 overs and Jack Holt 2 for 23 from 7 overs had restricted the Academy at the start of the innings.

In the reply openers Oliver Stephenson and Cian Dickinson put on 60 before Stephenson was out for 21. Scarborough reached the target as they finished on 98 for 1 from 26.5 overs. Dickinson finished on 57 not out from 88 balls and 8 fours.

The Academy visit Woodhouse Grange next Saturday.
