The Academy visited Clifton Park on Saturday to play York.
The home side won the toss and elected to bat and were soon reduced to 65 for 3 in the 18th over. Captain Duncan Snell and Alex Liley put on 39 for the 4th wicket before Liley was dismissed. Wicket keeper Tom Brooks joined Snell and the pair shared a 5th wicket stand of 54 before Snell was stumped for 73 from 133 balls with 5 fours and a six. Brooks became the next wicket to fall for 38 with the total on 184 for 6 in the 46th over. The remaining batsmen did not manage to bat out the 50 overs and York were 205 all out with one ball remaining.
Harry Sullivan 4 for 65 from 12.5 overs, Sam Wisniewski 3 for 45 from 13 overs, Yash Vagadia 2 for 44 from 13 overs and Ed Booth 1 for 23 were the wicket takers.
In the reply the Academy openers put on 45 for the first wicket but soon reduced to 53 for 3 in the 11th over. James Wharton and Yash Vagadia lead a recovery with a stand of 85 from 117 balls before Vagadia fell for 52 from 67 balls with 9 fours. The 5th wicket fell at 145. Wharton was joined by James Mukherjee and they put on 56 from 69 balls to put the Academy on the brink of the victory target. Wharton finished on 76 not out from 109 balls with 9 fours and 2 sixes as the Academy finished on 206 for 6 from 46.3 overs.
The wickets were shared between Clarke Doughney 3 from 38 from 11.3 overs, Simon Lambert 2 for 44 from 12 overs and Tom Bates 1 for 24.
It was another impressive display from the Yorkshire Academy team and at the half way stage of the season remain in second place in the Yorkshire League North table seven points behind Castleford who beat third place Acomb.
On Saturday Yorkshire Academy visit North Marine Road to play Scarborough.
