Pro Coach Yorkshire Cricket Academy have teamed up with Scarborough College and the R66t Academy to launch a new cricket centre of excellence for boys and girls from across Yorkshire and all parts of the world.

The partnership means a pupil will benefit from first class facilities, high level coaching and will be given the opportunity to attend a pre-season camp at the Desert Springs Academy in Spain. Starting in September, it is tailored to the needs of the player to include all aspects of what makes a successful cricketer. From strength and conditioning, nutritional advice to playing matches of a high calibre, players are given pathways to become the best possible cricketer.

At the weekend players will be representing some of Yorkshire’s great cricket clubs instead of representing the school. Headmaster Guy Emmett said: “Come Saturdays, I expect players to play for clubs in this cricket-loving county, instead of representing the school. That way, they will play to a suitably high level, which is better for their development”.

Matt Root, the Director and Founder of the R66t Academy, said: “It is a delight to see a school adopting a player-first mentality and ensuring they play for one of Yorkshire’s outstanding clubs on a Saturday”.

Yorkshire coach and former captain Andrew Gale is co-owner of Pro Coach and said: “As Yorkshire 1st XI head coach, I now have the opportunity to help youngsters to reach their potential. By combining with the prestigious Scarborough College we can provide an outstanding all-rounded education that will give pupils the chance to excel both in the classroom and on a cricket field. We have a saying at Yorkshire, ‘Train hard, win easy’. By joining this Centre of Excellence you will have to work hard and show the passion that could one day help you score runs or take wickets at the highest level.

England captain Joe Root agrees with Yorkshire’s Coach: “I am delighted Scarborough College is working with Pro Coach Yorkshire Cricket Academy and local cricket clubs. The R66T Academy shares the same objective which is to prepare and empower players to succeed at the highest level they can play. It is also important to point out that the benefits of this programme will enhance young players well beyond the boundaries of the field of play.”
