Yorkshire’s professional squad, academy, Northern Diamonds and staff shared a meal for Iftar on Thursday night with Muslim colleagues at Headingley who are currently observing Ramadan.

The evening was led by Imam Qari Asim from Makkah Mosque in Headingley who spoke with staff about the significance of Ramadan in the Muslim faith.

An interactive question and answer session also took place with Imam Qari Asim, Yorkshire and England leg-spinner Adil Rashid, Assistant Coach Kabir Ali and High Performance Coach Muhammad Azharullah. Experiences were shared with colleagues to better understand the importance of Ramadan and the impact fasting their on their work as professional athletes, families and friends.

Ahead of the event, a few members of the Yorkshire staff observed the fast for two days to better understand the impact of fasting on their colleagues.
