The annual Adult Hundred competition in Leeds is making waves with 30 out of the scheduled 98 matches already completed. The tournament, run in partnership with Leeds Premier League and based on the original ECB Hundred format, features 14 teams, each competing against the others once. The competition, which is spread across 11 different venues, began on June 9th and is played every Sunday until September 1st.

Jacob Kalapurakal, the organiser of the league, mentioned, “We’re back again with a bigger and better version of the tournament. It has become massive now as more and more players want to play this format. It’s fast paced and suits everyone. YCF has helped us immensely in organising this tournament.”

Currently, the Leeds Gladiators are leading the points table, having secured 4 wins out of their 4 matches. Their standout performance includes a significant victory over Leeds Indians by 107 runs. Close behind are the Sheffield Superkings, with 4 wins in 6 matches, holding the second position on the table.

On the individual front, Srajan Bhadauria from Leeds Gladiators tops the run-scoring charts with 203 runs in 4 matches, boasting an impressive average of 67.67 and a strike rate of 220.65. Meanwhile, Sunil Kumar Yadav from Leeds Defenders is leading the wicket-takers list, having claimed 11 wickets in 6 matches.

Devansh Sehara, Community Development Officer from Leeds, said: “It’s that great time of the year where we will celebrate our communities playing cricket. It’s amazing how cricket brings everyone together. There will be over 225 players taking part. On the match days, it’s a pleasure to watch some exciting, fast-paced cricket, and then everyone sits together to enjoy some food during lunch.”
