Live: Yorkshire Women v Lancashire Thunder, Vitality Blast

York Cricket Club plays host to the first of two Roses Vitality Blast fixtures inside a fortnight. Yorkshire are aiming for their first victory of the competition and their second win over Lancashire this summer. Follow this page for live updates throughout the afternoon.

Lanning falls to Cooper

Nineteen off the over, including a six and three fours. But it ends with Claudie Cooper getting a cutting Meg Lanning caught behind for 34.

It’s 46-1 after four as Lancashire chase 161.

Yorkshire 27-0, 4 overs

Meg Lanning has 16 and had a brief scare on eight when she pulled Hannah Rainey out to deep square-leg. It went for six via the palms of Claudie Cooper on the rope. In truth, it always looked like being six. Claudie would have done well to keep herself inside the rope had she caught it.

Our defence of 161 is about to get going

Jess Jonassen has the new ball, and Meg Lanning and Eve Jones are opening for Thunder.

Yorkshire 160-7, 20 overs

Ami Campbell’s 47 was the standout innings for Yorkshire, who will be disappointed from where they were early on. But, equally, there was a stage where they didn’t look like reaching 150.

10 off the last over between Beth Langston and Claudie Cooper.

Yorkshire 149-7, 19 overs

Lancashire have fought back well, led by Venus Weerappuli’s 3-13.

And then Venus Weerapulli bowls Sterre Kalis for 22 next ball.

Yorkshire still have work to do to ensure they don’t waste that fast start.

Good afternoon....

From York Cricket Club, where it’s a dry and bright afternoon ahead of the Roses clash.

This is a fixture which perhaps will not contribute to prizes come the end of the competition. Both teams have struggled for results so far; Yorkshire no wins, Lancashire one.

But do not for one minute think that will take the edge off. These two sides will be desperate to beat each other.

Yorkshire have the edge in Roses cricket this season, winning an early-summer Metro Bank One-Day Cup match over at Emirates Old Trafford. Jess Jonassen was the star in that match with a century and four wickets.

Australian all-rounder Jonassen will line up against her compatriot Meg Lanning, who is Lancashire’s overseas and is having a good competition in the Thunder top order.

If you’re in the area, it would be well worth your while to come down today and see two of the world’s best in the women’s game go head to head.

We have previewed this game with someone who is actually unavailable to play today in on-loan Alice Clarke. The Lancashire wicketkeeper-batter is with Yorkshire for the remainder of 2026 but is not permitted to play against her parent county.

Anyway, she was part of Lancashire’s double-winning season in 2025 and has been speaking about Yorkshire’s development and any of the comparisons she sees between the two counties in terms of Yorkshire wanting to get to where Lancashire have been.

That is linked below, and the stream will be embedded at the top of the page.

Enjoy the day.
