Live: Yorkshire v Surrey, Rothesay CC, Day Three

Yorkshire and Surrey head into day three at Scarborough, with the former trying to engineer a victory from a game which has been affected significantly by the weather. Follow this page for live updates.

Close. Surrey 338-4, 83 overs

Surrey respond strongly to our 517-6d. Ryan Patel 86 and Josh Blake 10.

Dom Bess finished with three wickets having hit 45 earlier in the day.

Matthew Revis stood out with 110 not out.

New ball taken

Ben Coad has the new ball in hand. We have three overs remaining, and Surrey are 326-4 with Ryan Patel 81 and Josh Blake 9.

Surrey 309-4, 73.2 overs

Dan Lawrence caught Will Luxton bowled Dom Bess, 78.

Pulled out to deep mid-wicket, where Luxton takes a smart low catch.

Lawrence played as well as any Surrey batter has today, but he can’t go on to a century.

10 overs remaining in the day

Surrey are 308-3 after 73 overs, with Dan Lawrence 78 and Ryan Patel 68.

Yorkshire will get the new ball just before close if they want to use it.

Lawrence 50

Dan Lawrence becomes the fourth Surrey batter to reach 50 in this innings, this off 51 balls with 9x4s.

They have moved to 271-3 after 66 overs replying to our 517-6 declared.

We still have 17 overs remaining in the day.

Patel 50

Ryan Patel is the third Surrey batter to pass 50, this coming off 82 balls with 5x4s and 2x6s.

He has helped Surrey to 240-3 in the 62nd over.

Matthew Revis

Matthew Revis receives a standing ovation from the Yorkshire members as he walks off the field with 110 not out to his name this morning.

Surrey, meanwhile, are 207-3 in the 57th over. We have to get to 83 before the day’s end.

Surrey 194-3, 51.2 overs

Will Jacks caught James Wharton bowled Dom Bess, 17.

Having reverse swept the previous two balls for four, Jacks falls in similar fashion to how Dom Sibley did – pushing a short ball to short-leg.

Bess has two-fer.

Surrey 168-2, 46th over

We’re in a bit of a lull in the early stages of the evening session.

Yorkshire could do with two more quick ones to really put the wind up Surrey, who are advancing courtesy of Ryan Patel on 20 and Will Jacks on 5.

Jordan Thompson in operation with the ball at present.

Tea. Surrey 162-2, 43 overs

We have 40 overs remaining in the day.

Surrey are replying to 517-6 declared. Ryan Patel has 17 and Will Jacks 4.

Surrey 150-2, 40.1 overs

Rory Burns caught Dom Bess bowled Jordan Thompson, 78.

Caught by Bess running around from mid-on.

Surrey 134-1, 35.1 overs

Dom Sibley caught James Wharton bowled Dom Bess, 52.

Caught at short-leg, trying to whip a short ball off his hip.

Sibley 50

Dom Sibley follows Rory Burns to fifty, off 87 balls with 7x4s.

Surrey have moved to 129-0 in the 34th over. Rory Burns has 70 to Sibley’s 52.

Dom Bess and Matthew Revis are searching for the breakthrough.

Dom Bess into the attack

Surrey are 86-0 in the 33rd over. Rory Burns, facing Dom Bess in his first over, has just reached his fifty. That’s come off 78 balls with 9x4s and 1x6s.

Sibley 1,000

Dom Sibley reaches four figures for the season, the first man to achieve it in either division.

Surrey are 64-0 in the 18th over. He has 26 and Rory Burns 36.

Up and running after lunch

Surrey are 35-0 in the 11th over, with Dom Sibley 15 and Rory Burns 18. Should Sibley reach 24, he could become the first batter in this season’s Championship – across either division – to reach 1,000 runs for the summer.

Lunch. Surrey 33-0, 10 overs

Rory Burns has 17 and Dom Sibley 14 as the champions reply to Yorkshire’s 517-6 declared.

India 321-6 at Emirates Old Trafford

They’re coming towards the end of the second morning in Manchester, where Jofra Archer and Ben Stokes have struck this morning.

Surrey 18-0, 5th over

Few oohs and aahs so far in the Surrey reply, but nothing major to note as Rory Burns and Dom Sibley aim to see off the new-ball threat of Ben Coad and Jack White.

Declaration

Yorkshire have pulled out at 517-6. They will have 40 minutes of bowling before lunch.

Matthew Revis finishes with a fabulous 110 not out, and Dom Bess 45.

HUNDRED!!!

Matthew Revis reaches his second successive Championship hundred, off 131 balls with 13x4s and 5x6s. Fabulous knock.

Yorkshire have moved on to 497-6.

The declaration won’t be too far away, surely. A 550 total, tops, you’d think.

All Revved up

Matthew Revis has just lofted Sai Kishore for six twice in three balls down towards the Peasholm Park End and now has 86. He has actually gone 6,4,6 in the ongoing in 124th over. Yorkshire 465-6. Superb knock this one.

Revis 50

Matthew Revis

Matthew Revis reaches 50 for the third successive Championship innings, this one off 96 balls with 9x4s. Excellent stuff.

Yorkshire 422-6 now.

Yorkshire 403-6, 113.1 overs

Will Sutherland caught Rory Burns bowled Sai Kishore, 17.

Miscued high to mid-off, and Dom Bess is in now alongside Matthew Revis, who has 44.

Revis and Sutherland take on Overton

Yorkshire 400-5, and Matthew Revis and Will Sutherland have just taken 20 off the 113th over.

Players on their way out to the middle

Yorkshire 376-5 from 110.1 overs.

We will have 104 overs in the day, with lunch taken at 1.10pm.

Matthew Revis has 34 and Will Sutherland 6.

Jamie Overton to complete the unfinished 111th over.

Good news

Confirmation from the umpires that we will be starting on time. All set to go at 11am.

Players are warming up now

We have some activity on the outfield now, and the sun’s out too.

Delayed start?

We have had no official word, and we may be putting two and two together and getting five here, but it looks like we may be in for a delayed start.

The umpires, Nigel Llong and Russell Warren are out in the middle in discussion and none of the warm-ups have started. We shall update you as soon as we know more.

Good morning...

From North Marine Road, where it’s dry and overcast ahead of day three.

After two disrupted days, we’re hopeful of a full day or close to it today.

And it’s the key day in this fixture.

If Yorkshire can have a good one, they will give themselves a sniff of victory.

The White Rose begin on 376-5, with Matthew Revis on 34 and Will Sutherland with him having only just come to the crease.

Yorkshire will need some quick runs and then to get bowling with something in the region of 450-500 on the board, you would think.

The likelihood, given we’ve had near enough a day taken out by the weather, is that this fixture will finish in a draw. But stranger things have happened, there’s no doubt.

You can read our match report and reaction piece from day two, the latter with John Sadler, via the embedded X posts above this scene-setter.

Enjoy the day.
