Good morning...

From Headingley, where it’s a sunny start to the day ahead of our Rothesay County Championship clash with Surrey.

The White Rose are bidding for win number two at the sixth attempt, Surrey likewise. The difference between the two counties is that third-placed Surrey have drawn their other four games, while eighth-placed Yorkshire have drawn two and lost two.

Yorkshire are coming into this fixture on the back of a defeat to Warwickshire at Edgbaston, while Surrey drew with Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge last weekend.

Harry Brook and Joe Root are available for Yorkshire, while England duo Matthew Fisher and Jamie Smith are in Surrey’s squad.

This is the final Division One game before the start of the Vitality Blast next week.

We have previewed this fixture with Root and Anthony McGrath. You can read that via the link below.

We also spoke to biographer Ian Lockwood for our bygones piece. He is the author of Ted Peate – 10 drunks and a parson. In 1883, Peate took figures of 5-8 against Surrey at Holbeck. That piece is also linked below.

The live stream will be at the top of the page just before we get going.

Enjoy the day.
