Yorkshire lose by 56 runs

Adam Lyth has holed out for 97 – superb knock. But we’re all out for 161.

That’s our first defeat in four games.

Yorkshire 152-9, 17th over

Duan Jansen has just taken a superb caught and bowled chance to remove AJ Tye. Swirling high.

He’s also got Hassan Ali caught at long-on next ball.

Short has a fourth

D’Arcy Short has a fourth wicket. Dom Bess has played on pulling. Yorkshire 137-7 in the 18th.

Adam Lyth has 77.

Short standing tall

D’Arcy Short again. Faheem Ashraf goes bowled. It’s 115-6 in the 13th.

Yorkshire 101-5, 11th over

D’Arcy Short has removed Moeen Ali and Matthew Revis with successive deliveries in the 11th.

Moeen caught at deep mid-wicket and Revis caught and bowled.

Yorkshire have it all to do now. Adam Lyth still there on 56.

Adam Lyth 50

Excellent knock. We’re 87-3 in the 10th chasing 218.

He has reached his milestone off 26 balls.

Lyth keeps Yorkshire hopes high

Adam Lyth has hit three sixes since the fall of the third wicket and has 43 out of 76-3 in the eighth over.

Yorkshire 49-3 in the sixth.

James Wharton has just been bowled by a beauty from Duan Jansen. Left-arm from over the wicket angled across.

Moeen Ali and Adam Lyth 20 in now.

Lyth had just hit three successive boundaries off Marchant de Lange.

Yorkshire 35-2, 4 overs.

Will Luxton hits two sixes and a four but falls to Ollie Price for 20. 218-target.

Luxton gets things moving

Will Luxton has just lofted Ollie Price’s off-spin for back-to-back sixes.

Yorkshire 32-1 in the fourth over. He has 18.

218-target.

Yorkshire 6-1, 2nd over

Jonny Bairstow has hoisted Ollie Price’s off-spin to long-on for four.

Will Luxton in now alongside Adam Lyth.

Yorkshire have never chased this many in T20

Records are there to be broken. We chased 207 to beat Durham here in 2022.

Adam Lyth and Jonny Bairstow opening in the face of 218-target.

This man has been excellent in keeping things in check with 3-29.

Gloucestershire still in a decent position, though, having posted 217-6.

Good pitch, game on.

Tye again

Kamran Dhariwal has driven AJ Tye to cover.

Good fightback from Yorkshire. It’s 172-5 after 17 overs.

Short falls for 82

Caught at deep backward square off Hassan Ali. Fine knock is ended, thankfully.

Two in the over, Jack Taylor caught at cover for 20.

It’s 166-4 in the 16th over.

Gloucestershire 150-2, 14th over

D’Arcy Short 68 and Jack Taylor 19.

That wicket has only served to increase the Glos momentum.

Phillips all Tye-d up

Joe Phillips, 42, is caught behind trying to scoop at the seam of AJ Tye.

That leaves Gloucestershire 119-2 in the 13th over and ends an 88-run stand with D’Arcy Short, who has 56.

Gloucestershire 98-1, 10.2 overs

D’Arcy Short reaches his fifty off 35 balls with three sixes.

Caught it just inside the rope, threw it up and caught it again as he tried successfully to keep inside the rope.

Gloucestershire 24-1 in the fourth.

Hammond into top gear

Miles Hammond has taken a leg-side four and six off Hassan Ali in the opening over. Gloucestershire 11-0.

Moeen Ali sharing the new ball.

All set to go here at Headingley

It’s turned into another lovely afternoon.

We’re just under 10 minutes from the start of play.

Yorkshire had never before won their first three Blast matches in a season. Can they make it four?

Gloucestershire win it and bat

Yorkshire: Jonny Bairstow c/w, Adam Lyth, Will Luxton, James Wharton, Moeen Ali, Matthew Revis, Faheem Ashraf, Dom Bess, AJ Tye, Hassan Ali, Jafer Chohan.

Good afternoon...

From Headingley, where it’s not quite the blazing sunshine of this time last week when we beat Derbyshire here in that thriller.

This time – for a 2.30pm start – Gloucestershire are the visitors for the first ever Blast clash between the two counties.

They will be without Dawid Malan because of a calf injury. The former Yorkshire captain has yet to debut for his new county having picked up the injury in a warm-up game.

While Yorkshire have started well with three wins from three, they have started brightly too with two wins from three in the Central/West Group. They were beaten at Northamptonshire on Friday night.

If Yorkshire can win this cross-group clash – one of two each county will play in the new format – then they would really strengthen their position in terms of quarter-final qualification.

Our preview for this match is attached below, with James Wharton, who has scored two fifties in three outings so far this season. He scored an excellent 64 off 41 balls in that low-scoring win over Durham at the Riverside on Friday.

The stream will be embedded at the top of the page.

Enjoy the day.

Jonny's half-term Blast report

As Jonny Bairstow spoke after the Vitality Blast defeat at Leicestershire on Sunday afternoon, he was clearly frustrated with the manner of it, Yorkshire slipping from 100-3 to 135 all out in their pursuit of a 148-target. But the White Rose skipper struck the balance between disappointment and encouragement.
