He recently pulled Jafer Chohan for six, on 40, which burst through the hands of Will Bennison at deep square-leg.

Derbyshire have advanced to 75-0 after 17 overs, and Yorkshire could do with breaking this stand between Harry Came, who has 35, and Martin Andersson on 29.

From a dry and bright Scarborough, where we’ve not got the wall to wall sunshine of recent weeks but things are settled on the weather front.

This is Yorkshire’s penultimate fixture in the One-Day Cup group stage, and a win will put Yorkshire on the verge of knockout qualification.

Qualification can’t be confirmed today, but it may yet transpire that one more win is enough for a top three finish.

The aim, however, is two wins to have a chance at a home semi-final for the second year running.

We head into this match on the back of a defeat at Lord’s against group leaders Middlesex on Sunday. They actually play third-placed Durham at Banks Homes Riverside today.

Derbyshire are in must win territory. This is their sixth game of eight. But, with three to play, they only have eight points, half as many as Middlesex, Yorkshire and Durham, who sit in the top three. They beat Sussex at home on Sunday.
