If we see all of those, it would be a surprise given it’s already grey and overcast.
Tea. Warwickshire 147 all out, 55 overs
Ethan Bamber lbw Jack White, 28.
Bamber’s counter-attack is ended by White, who claims his fourth wicket.
He finishes with an impressive 4-49.
Tea has been taken early, and we’ll have 41 overs remaining in the day.
Bamber counter-attacking
Ethan Bamber has clubbed two leg-side sixes off Logan van Beek and has just hoisted Jack White down the ground for four and then ramped the next ball for the same result.

Alongside Sam Hain, he’s the only other Warwickshire batter to have gone beyond 10.

Of all the bowlers who would have been keen to take Thompson’s wickets, it’s the bowler who didn’t play with him.
One former Yorkshire player replaces another. Oliver Hannon-Dalby in now.

Short boundary to the Hollies' side
There’s a very short boundary over to the Hollies Stand side of the ground for this match.
Over on the other side, there is building work going on for a new hotel.
Good morning...
From Edgbaston, where it’s a dry and a sunny start to day one.
Warwickshire are the opponents for match number five of the Rothesay County Championship summer.
Both counties have started the summer with the same record; played four, won one, lost one and drawn two. But the fourth-placed Bears (55) are 10 points ahead of Yorkshire (45) in seventh. If Yorkshire can win this one, they will be right in the thick of the conversation at the top end of the table.
There is a definite requirement for one change this weekend, as Harry Brook comes in for the rested Joe Root. Brook will be available for the next two games, with Surrey next up at Headingley in a week’s time. Root will play in that game as well.
Academy fast bowler Bradley Sylvester is in the squad for the first time. Yorkshire have got a bit of a shortage of seamers at present, with Ben Coad injured and the likes of youngsters Jay Singh and Matthew Firbank sidelined.
Sylvester, aged 18, is from Huddersfield and has just spent his winter playing club cricket in Melbourne. He made his second-team debut in 2024 and plays club cricket at Cleckheaton.
Warwickshire are coming into this game on the back of a rest week. They drew a high-scoring game at Nottinghamshire last time out, at the back end of last month.
The familiar name in their squad is, of course, Jordan Thompson.
The preview for this match, with Matthew Revis and James Wharton – the recently capped duo, is linked below.
There is also a bygones piece from 1896, when Yorkshire racked up a county record total which stands firm to this day. We have spoken to historian Jeremy Lonsdale, who has written a host of really good books on the White Rose. Again, that’s linked below.
The live stream will be at the top of the page before we get going.
Enjoy the day.
