While Will Luxton has led the way with his unbeaten 55, Sam Whiteman has platted very nicely as well for 36 off 39 balls.

These two have shared 65 unbroken in 140-3 in the 23rd over.

He offered a sharp caught and bowled opportunity to the seamer Freddie Price on 29 but has looked in good order.

From Hove, where it’s a damp start to the day ahead of our clash with Sussex Sharks, starting at 11am.

We’ve been greeted by light rain. It would be a surprise if it caused us too much of an issue, however.

Yorkshire head into this fixture on the back of a defeat and a win, the latter coming against Glamorgan at Neath on Friday. Sussex, meanwhile, have suffered back-to-back defeats. On Friday, they were beaten under lights by Durham up at Chester-le-Street.

A top-three finish at least in Group B is the aim for Anthony McGrath, Dom Bess and co, and a win today would leave them encouragingly placed ahead of back-to-back home games against Worcestershire on Wednesday and Durham on Friday. Both of those games are at York, with the defending champions first up.
