Hampshire trail by 113 runs after a 14-wicket day.

Might be a touch fortunate here Hill.

Sonny Baker is trapped lbw, and there’s a hint of inside-edge.

Still, Hampshire’s nightwatchman has gone. Tom Prest in now.

Ben Coad has the new ball, with Ali Orr and Nick Gubbins opening the batting.

We have 26 overs remaining in the day.

Yorkshire 173 all out, 62nd over

Ben Cliff seems to lose sight of a Sonny Baker short ball and fends a catch to mid-wicket, falling for 16.

Dom Bess finishes on an innings-high 40 not out. Those two shared 53 for the 10th wicket, the second highest partnership.

We have 26 overs remaining.

Kyle Abbott finishes with figures of 4-17 from 18 overs. Quite the analysis.

But this pitch is doing a bit, and Yorkshire are far from out of things.

Up and running after tea

Yorkshire 167-9 in the 60th over.

Dom Bess has 38 and Ben Cliff 16.

Tea. Yorkshire 167-9, 51 overs

Dom Bess 38 and Ben Cliff 16.

These two have put on 47 for the last wicket, the second highest partnership of the innings.

They will continue after tea, with another 31 overs remaining in the day.

Valuable runs

Dom Bess 29 and Ben Cliff 10 have added 32 and counting for the 10th wicket.

Yorkshire are 152-9 as we approach the tea break. Just under 15 minutes or so to go unless a wicket falls beforehand.

Yorkshire 140-9, 52nd over

Dom Bess has 21 and Ben Cliff 8.

Tea has been extended by 30 mins with Yorkshire nine wickets down.

Yorkshire 120-9, 48th over

Kept low and scooted through.

After a couple of sixes for Ben Coad in 21, he’s been caught behind off Eddie Jack.

Jafer Chohan in on first-class debut.

Coad launches Baker

Ben Coad has just hammered Sonny Baker down the ground for six.

Rare success for Yorkshire, who are 94-7.

Yorkshire 83-7, 40th over

Touch unlucky there for George Hill, who is caught and bowled at the second attempt by Andrew Neal. The spinner almost spilt it as he landed.

Ben Coad in now alongside Dom Bess.

Remarkable start to this fixture.

Abbott has bowled 10 maidens in 15 overs

Kyle Abbott has remarkable figures of 4-7 from 15 overs to date.

He has been helped by the fact we’ve been off for rain on a couple of occasions, keeping him fresh.

Yorkshire 80-6 at present.

Yorkshire six down

Andrew Neal has bowled James Wharton for 24, and Yorkshire are 76-6 in the 34th over.

Dom Bess is in now alongside George Hill.

There’s definite signs of turn even 34 overs or so into this fixture.

First ball after the resumption and Kyle Abbott has trapped Jonny Bairstow lbw for 5.

Abbott has four wickets now.

George Hill in alongside James Wharton (24) at 76-5 after 31 overs.

2.45pm restart

We have lost another six overs from the day’s allocation, which takes us to seven in total.

Rain. Yorkshire 76-4, 31st over

A short but heavy rain shower has forced the players off. It seems to have stopped now. If not, it’s only very light.

Fingers crossed, we will be up and running again soon.

James Wharton 24, Jonny Bairstow 5.

Kyle Abbott strikes

The South African new-ball seamer has his third wicket, with Matthew Revis lbw for 33.

Yorkshire have recovered from 9-3.

First sign of spin

Andrew Neal, the left-arm spinner, is into the attack, with Yorkshire now 44-3 in the 20th over.

We've lost an over

Confirmation of two things. We will only bowl 95 overs today and also my hearing’s not too bad!

Restart at 12.40pm

We are due to restart at 12.40pm, with lunch to be taken at 1.20pm.

Pretty sure they said over the tannoy that one over has been lost. Will confirm that shortly.

Covers coming off

Fingers crossed we should be up and running soon.

Yorkshire 33-3, 14 overs

And we’re off, midway through the 15th over. The covers are coming on.

Yorkshire 9-3 in the eighth over

One of those celeb-appeals from Jack, and Yorkshire have significant work to do here.

Matthew Revis in now alongside James Wharton.

Abbott strikes again

Kyle Abbott gets Sam Whiteman caught behind by Ben Brown without scoring.

Spot of bother early on for Yorkshire as James Wharton comes to the crease.

Luxton falls to Abbott

Will Luxton has been trapped lbw by Kyle Abbott, 2.

Pushing forwards and Luxton is undone by Abbott, who actually a strong appeal for lbw turned down against Adam Lyth first ball of the match.

Sam Whiteman in now.

Yorkshire 5-1 in the fifth over.

Abbott starts with a maiden

Adam Lyth plays out a maiden against Kyle Abbott.

Now Will Luxton must contend with Sonny Baker.

All set

Will Luxton and Adam Lyth to open the batting.

Wes Spearman, who is Hampshire’s media manager and actually used to do streaming commentary for Yorkshire on the Northern Diamonds games, tells me the forecast has improved significantly for the next four days. Good news.

Kyle Abbott has the new ball.

Yorkshire team...

Adam Lyth, Will Luxton, James Wharton, Sam Whiteman, Matthew Revis, Jonny Bairstow c/w, George Hill, Dom Bess, Jafer Chohan, Ben Coad, Ben Cliff.

Yorks win it and elect to bat

Team news to follow, but Jafer Chohan makes his red-ball debut.

Jonny Bairstow has just been interviewed at the toss and says that it’s a used pitch, for a one-day game against Derbyshire last week.

Good morning...

From the Utilita Bowl, Southampton, where it’s a dry and bright morning ahead of day one versus Hampshire.

There’s plenty of cloud around, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see some rain today. As for now, though, we’re all set to go at 11am.

This is the first of six remaining matches in the summer for Yorkshire, who are eighth out of 10 teams in Division One. Hampshire are ninth and in the relegation zone. The gap between the two is 17 points. So that tells you just how important this game is.

A win here, and you’d think Yorkshire would be clear of any relegation danger and can look up at the leading teams in the table with excitement.

This is the first Championship fixture since Yorkshire were beaten inside three days at Leicestershire in June.

We have previewed this fixture with Anthony McGrath, which is linked below.

The stream is embedded at the top of the page.

Enjoy the day.
