“It’s been a tough two days.
“You can’t fault the lads’ efforts. The Worcester lads have played really well, but they have played and missed quite a bit.
“From a bowling perspective, the efforts have been excellent. We just haven’t got our rewards.
“It was tough batting on the first day. I think everyone saw that. The conditions played differently to what we expected to be honest. Clearly we’re up against it.
“I think we’ll bowl worse at times for more rewards, but that’s cricket. You have to give credit to Mitchell and Ali in particular, but Fell early on.
“They were very strong in defence and scored when they could. They were very determined, but we didn’t have much luck.”

Tea Report
Daryl Mitchell’s third Specsavers County Championship hundred of the season has helped Worcestershire take control against Yorkshire at Scarborough.
The White Rose have only struck once with the ball during a day which has been interrupted by rain just before tea, where the visitors have reached at 235-1 in reply to 216.
Mitchell has reached 109 not out, Moeen Ali is unbeaten on 66 and Tom Fell made 45, with the former sharing in two century partnerships to date.
Yorkshire have gone through the second afternoon wicketless, but on another day could have struck more. They have certainly not bowled as badly as their tally of wickets may suggest.
Mitchell reached his century off 191 balls before driving his next ball off Adam Lyth through the covers for four to take Worcester into the lead at 217-1.
Rain took the players off at approximately 3.20pm, signalling an early tea.
3.20pm We are off for rain. Worcestershire 235-1 in the 70th over. Mitchell 109 and Moeen 66.
3.01pm Mitchell reaches a superb 191-ball hundred with 14 fours and adds his 15th immediately afterwards. Worcestershire 217-1 and lead by one.

Lunch Report
Yorkshire haven’t had the second morning they would have wanted against Worcestershire at Scarborough.
The White Rose haven’t bowled badly by any means, but they have been unable to take more than one wicket as the visitors reply to 216 with 151-1 from 46 overs.
Daryl Mitchell has reached lunch unbeaten on 73 and shared 111 for the first wicket with Tom Fell, who fell lbw for 45 to Jack Brooks.
Mitchell reached 50 off 91 balls and has left very well alongside Fell.
Unfortunately for Tim Bresnan and David Willey, they had confident appeals for caught behind against Mitchell turned down in the second half of the session.
Moeen Ali is unbeaten on 18.

12.19pm Jack Brooks traps Tom Fell lbw for 45 as he shuffles across his stumps. Worcestershire 111-1 in the 34th over.
Meanwhile, Jonny Bairstow has taken a nasty blow to the left hand whilst keeping in the Test at Trent Bridge and has been forced off the field. Jos Buttler has taken the gloves.
India are 156-2 in their second innings, leading by 325.
12.10pm Mitchell reaches 50 off 91 balls with 6×4s. Worcestershire 103-0 in the 31st.
12.04pm Worcestershire have advanced to 97-0 from 30 overs, 16.2 of which have been bowled this morning. Mitchell has 44 and Fell, opening for the first time in first-class cricket, has 39. They have left alone outside off particularly well.

Good morning from Scarborough
The sun is shining ahead of day two, where Yorkshire need some morning wickets as they bid to fight their way back against a Worcestershire side who had the better of day one.
Dillon Pennington impressed with four wickets for the visitors in bowling Yorkshire out for 216, while Kane Williamson stood out with 87 for the hosts.
The Pears then reached 39-0 in a shortened evening session due to bad light and a bit of rain.
There will be 104 overs to bowl today following last night’s weather interruption.
