“It’s been a fascinating day, and it’s set up tomorrow. If we can make them chase over 200, I think it’s going to be a really good game.
“It’s been really hard-fought and enjoyable to watch. It hasn’t been a typical green seamer, it’s just been a hard-working cricket pitch. Both teams have learnt the right length to bowl on this pitch, and it’s a bit fuller than normal. If you get in those areas, it’s tough to score.
“Steve Patterson said in the team chat this morning, ‘It’s old school cricket’, which kind of suits his style of play, doesn’t it!
“It’s all set up for tomorrow.
“I think they’re probably just ahead, but a lead of over 200 and it will be back in our favour.”

Tea Yorkshire and Warwickshire are locked in a tense and enthralling Specsavers County Championship battle at tea on day three at York’s Clifton Park.
Yorkshire gained a first-innings lead of five almost immediately after lunch when the Bears were bowled out for 254, losing their last three wickets for only four runs in six balls either side of the break.
Liam Norwell was trapped lbw three balls after lunch by Jordan Thompson, his second wicket in the 98th over of the innings. David Willey then had Tim Ambrose (39) caught at first slip by Tom Kohler-Cadmore two balls into the next to wrap up the innings.
Yorkshire have since reached tea on 96-3 from 31 overs, leading by 101.
Oliver Hannon-Dalby claimed the first two wickets, including Gary Ballance caught at first slip by Will Rhodes for 18. He had earlier trapped Will Fraine lbw playing across one.
At that stage, Yorkshire were 31-2 in the 15th over.
The Bears then claimed their third wicket of the afternoon through seamer Matt Lamb, whose first ball brought the wicket of Kohler-Cadmore caught behind as the hosts fell to 68-3 in the 22nd.
The over before, Adam Lyth had pulled Hannon-Dalby for six over backward square-leg and into a nearby garden. The opener has since moved to 37 alongside Jack Leaning on nine.

Yorkshire v Warwickshire (York, day 3)
Yorkshire are 73 for 3 in their second innings and lead by 78, having earlier dismissed Warwickshire for 254. Oliver Hannon-Dalby picked up two more wickets and now has seven in the match against his former county.
Kent v Nottinghamshire (Tunbridge Wells, day 3)
England’s Joe Denly has made his highest Championship score of the season – 55 not out – as Kent build a good position. Denly’s previous five Championship innings had brought him just 44 runs. They are 141 for 2 and lead by 183 having earlier bowled out Notts for 267 with Matt Milnes taking 5 for 67, his maiden first-class five-for, against the club he left last winter.
Division Two
Middlesex v Glamorgan (Radlett, day 4 – close) Match Drawn
Middlesex were 125 for 4, a lead of 247, with 57 overs left in the day when rain arrived and the match was abandoned as a draw at 4pm. Middlesex have won just one of their first seven Championship game while Glamorgan are still unbeaten and in a promotion position.
Derbyshire v Lancashire (Derby, day 3) Lancashire won by 10 wickets
Jimmy Anderson and Graham Onions swept Derbyshire aside to give Division Two leaders Lancashire a crushing 10 wicket victory before lunch.
Derbyshire were bowled out for 84 one ball after they avoided an innings defeat with Onions taking 5 for 38 and Anderson 4 for 29 leaving Keaton Jennings to hit the winning boundary off the first delivery of the visitors second innings. Only Harvey Hosein with 29 from 65 balls offered any meaningful resistance to Anderson and Onions who finished with combined match figures of 17 for 104.
Leicestershire v Gloucestershire (Leicester, day 3)
Skipper Chris Dent has led an excellent Gloucestershire fightback with an unbeaten 128 not out while Ryan Higgins, who made his second hundred of the season against Sussex last week, is unbeaten on 82. Their stand is now worth 175 with Glos 306 for 5 replying to Leicestershire’s 487.
Worcestershire v Sussex (Kidderminster, day 2)
Worcestershire’s third wicket pair of Rikki Wessels and Callum Ferguson led a counter-attack with Wessels putting a run of low scores behind him with 55 as Worcestershire reached 138 for 3 in reply to Sussex’s 255. Ben Brown, the Sussex captain, was last man out for 80 then Ollie Robinson struck twice with the new ball before the fightback. Ferguson is 51 not out.
4pm Kohler-Cadmore gone! He’s been caught behind off Lamb’s first ball. It’s 68-3, a Yorkshire lead of 73.

2.08pm Excellent start to the afternoon as Thompson traps Norwell lbw, two wickets in four balls. 250-9. Yorkshire lead by nine.
Lunch A brilliant one-handed diving catch from Jonny Tattersall gave Yorkshire a significant boost immediately before lunch on day three against Warwickshire at York, with the visitors reduced to 250-8.
The Bears are closing in on a first-innings lead in reply to 259 in this Specsavers County Championship fixture, but they have lost three wickets in a morning session which did not start until midday following rain. Sixteen overs have been lost from the day’s allotted 104.
David Willey, Ben Coad and Jordan Thompson claimed a wicket apiece, one with the old ball in the day’s third over and then the other two with the new ball.
Willey had Sam Hain caught at second slip by Adam Lyth for 25, leaving Warwickshire at 201-6 at the start of the 79th.
Yorkshire delayed taking the new ball until early in the 82nd over, through Coad, but they had to wait for their next breakthrough as seventh-wicket pair Tim Ambrose and Craig Miles added 33.
Miles dominated the stand with 27 and drove nicely before that shot proved his undoing in the 92nd, caught at mid-off by Steve Patterson off Coad – 234-7.
Midway through the 98th over, Thompson then had Jeetan Patel brilliantly caught one-handed by Tattersall diving to his left off an inside edge for five, signalling lunch three balls early.
Ambrose remains unbeaten on 35, but he was rapped on the fingers by a rising Patterson delivery.
1.10pm And there is the wicket. Miles drives Coad to Patterson at mid-off. He’s gone for 27. 234-7, a Warwickshire deficit of 25.

Good morning from York, where the covers are on and it is raining, not particularly heavily though.
It is has been raining harder overnight, which means we can safely say we won’t be starting on time at 11am.
When we do get underway, Warwickshire will be 192-5 in reply to 259.
Steve Patterson claimed three quick wickets after tea to drag Yorkshire back into contention from 139-1.
We are hopeful of plenty of cricket later today and will keep you up to date with any start time.
