Yorkshire coach Andrew Gale said
“It’s disappointing because I feel we’ve played well enough to warrant getting to Lord’s.
“We’ve lost nearly 500 overs, and the games that have gone the distance we’ve won.
“The games in the middle, I thought we were driving it against Derbyshire and Lancashire was in the balance. Had we have had good weather against Derby, who knows what would have happened. We certainly would have pushed hard for the win.
“I’m proud of the lads because they’ve done everything we’ve asked them to do. They couldn’t really have done much more.
“We could have maybe scrapped a little bit here and there for a few extra bonus points, but you certainly can’t win games of cricket in two days. That can’t be helped.
“We’ve played some really good cricket, and it’s been a pleasure to see some of the young lads take their opportunity.
“The ones who probably haven’t have learnt the standards they need to be at, and it’s a good eye-opener and lesson for them going into the winter as to what they need to work on.
“All in all, we’ve done all we can, and it’s disappointing not to be going to a Lord’s final.”
1.30pm YORKSHIRE WIN!!! There it is. A superb 10-wicket success – our third in five games – is confirmed in 6.2 overs of the chase. Yorkshire 37-0, with Lyth 14 and Kohler-Cadmore 23.
We top the North four now and wait for Derbyshire’s result v Lancs. They are 73-2 chasing 381.
1.19pm Yorkshire are closing in on victory at 21-0 in the fifth over of their chase. They need only 13 more.
21 points would take Yorkshire top of the North Group.
Derbyshire, chasing 381 to beat Lancashire at Liverpool, would usurp them with a win. They are 58-2.
Lunch report Yorkshire are closing in on a Bob Willis Trophy victory over Leicestershire at Emerald Headingley.
The White Rose are chasing just 34 to win and have reached lunch at 4-0 from two overs of their chase.
Leicestershire were bowled out for 161 in their second innings inside the final 15 minutes of the session, with Jordan Thompson’s 5-31 representing his maiden career five-for.
With three wickets overnight, Thompson added the last two of Leicester’s innings today as they advanced from 78-5 overnight.
Yorkshire did not have things all their own way this morning.
Inside the first seven overs, the Foxes slipped to 92-7, opening up the prospect of an innings win.
Ben Coad had Arron Lilley caught at fourth slip and Ben Mike lbw as the new ball seamer finished with 3-23 and match figures of 8-41.
But captain Colin Ackermann and fellow South African Dieter Klein shared 43 for the eighth wicket to make Yorkshire bat again in this final round North Group fixture which will end with neither side being able to qualify for the Lord’s final.
Ackermann and Klein battled hard even if they rode their luck, with the latter dropped twice in the teens on the way to 27.
After being dropped, Klein slashed Duanne Olivier to backward point, where Thompson held on – 135-8 in the 46th.
Thompson then uprooted Ackermann’s off-stump for 47 in the 49th over, by which time Leicester were 139-9 and leading by 11.
Last pair Alex Evans (15) and Gavin Griffiths (11) boosted the target with some lusty hitting before the former was bowled by a gleeful Thompson.
12.33pm – Lunch The players take a break with Yorkshire 4-0 after two overs chasing 34.
12.16pm Alex Evans gone! Yorkshire need 34 to win as Thompson bowls Evans to finish with his maiden five-for. 161 all out.
12.03pm Lovely sight for Thompson as he uproots Ackermann’s off pole for 47. 139-9 and Leicester lead by 11.
11.49am Half hour of frustration is ended as Klein cuts Olivier to backward point, where a grateful Thompson is waiting and clings on. Klein falls for 27 – 135-8, a lead of seven for Leicester.
11.35am Leicestershire are 128-7 and draw level. Ackermann 42 and Klein 25.
11.19am And Coad drops one at long-leg off Olivier after Klein top-edged a pull. 115-7.
11.15am You don’t get many of those to the pound – Kohler-Cadmore dropped catches. He’s failed to hold on at first slip following a Klein edge at Coad on 15. Leicester 113-7, trailing by 15.
10.56am Coad claims his eighth wicket of the match as Mike is lbw pushing forwards. 92-7.
10.47am There’s the breakthrough, and it’s Coad. He gets Lilley caught at fourth slip driving – Fraine holds on comfortably. Leicester are 84-6, trailing by 44.
10.30am Play has just started at Emerald Headingley. Coad bowling to Lilley in glorious sunshine. Leicester 80-5, trailing by 48.
10.24am And just as we say that, Dawid Malan has been named as a reserve for England’s three-match ODI series against Australia from Friday to Wednesday. That means he will be unavailable until the penultimate Blast game against Lancashire a week on Thursday.
10.05am Some very interesting news from the ICC in terms of their latest update on player rankings.
They now rank Yorkshire’s Dawid Malan as the number one T20 batsman in world cricket, ahead of Babar Azam and Aaron Finch.
Malan has just scored 129 runs in the three-match series against Australia, which England won 2-1.
Fingers crossed we see him back in a Yorkshire shirt later this week.
Good morning from Emerald Headingley ahead of the final day of our Bob Willis Trophy campaign.
This fourth day against Leicestershire will be our last red ball action of the season ahead of the conclusion of our Vitality Blast campaign over the next few weeks. Hopefully that stretches until October 3!
Yorkshire will begin the day very well placed for a victory which could see them top the North Group. Unfortunately, though, it won’t be enough for us to reach the Lord’s final later this month.
Leicestershire are 78-5 in their second innings, trailing by 50 runs. So, if things go well, it could be a pretty short final day.
The weather is absolutely glorious at Headingley this morning. The sun is out with hardly a cloud in the sky.
