Will Fraine looked in good order for his 28.
He lofted Hartley for six over long-on to move into double figures before sweeping another maximum off the youngster.
He fell caught behind off Danny Lamb to signal an early tea.
TEA Fraine is caught behind off Lamb for 28, signalling an early tea. Lyth 108 – and it would be a surprise if he doesn’t give someone else a go in the final session.. Yorkshire are 211-2 after 56.2 overs.

The White Rose openers have confidently taken the score to 101-0 after 29 overs, both reaching their fifties off 84 balls.
Kohler-Cadmore elegantly hit 10 fours, while dominant Lyth struck five fours and two pulled sixes – one at either end of the session.
Lancashire have struggled to create chances since Liam Hurt dropped Lyth on two at square-leg on two off Tom Bailey early on.
Lyth went on to reach his fifty with the final ball of the morning.
Yorkshire will bat today and Lancashire tomorrow on what looks a placid pitch.
Play has taken place under sunny skies at Headingley.

12.02pm As this game goes on, a handful of Yorkshire players are netting on one of the practice pitches in front of the West Stand. It looks like Duanne Olivier is about to have a bowl as he ramps up his preparation having quarantined last week upon his return from South Africa. Yorkshire 42-0.
11.51am As part of the new protocols, the ball has to be sanitised every six overs, so there’s plenty of breaks scheduled through the day. Meanwhile, in the Test at Old Trafford, England are 17-1. Dom Sibley fell early doors.
11.46am Lyth has just pulled Liam Hurt for six into the East Stand. Yorkshire 30-0 after 11 overs.

Lyth was dropped on two at square-leg by a diving Liam Hurt off Tom Bailey, but he has since driven the only boundary through the covers. It’s great to be back.
10.30am Yorkshire will be batting today and bowling tomorrow.
Good morning from Emerald Headingley We’re back, finally. Welcome to the start of the new season and this two-day friendly with Lancashire.
The ground looks picture perfect and the weather is set fair today. We start at 11am, with both sides batting a day apiece.
Lancashire have brought a 14-man squad across the M62 and are expected to use all of them. Yorkshire, meanwhile, have only selected a team of 11.
Dawid Malan, Gary Ballance and Duanne Olivier miss out as they are not quite up to speed fitness wise, as do all those involved in England commitments.
After the release of the Bob Willis Trophy fixtures this morning, we now know this is a precursor to a North Group clash between the two counties here on August 22.
Enjoy the day!
