9.57am It was heartbreaking to read the story of Alan Igglesden earlier this week, the former Kent seamer who is receiving end of life care because of an inoperable brain tumour.
We were delighted to welcome Alan and some of his former Kent team-mates to Headingley yesterday.
Current Kent spinner Marcus O’Riordan spoke about Alan at the end of play, saying: “(Coach) Matt Walker spoke to us before the game, particularly about Alan, saying that he’d be here today. That gave us a bit more perspective about what it means to play for Kent.”

9.42am Here’s a look around the grounds ahead of day three…
Nottinghamshire 323 v Essex 99 and 129-3, Trent Bridge
Warwickshire 343 v Worcestershire 198-4, Edgbaston
Hampshire 79 and 92-3 v Somerset 336, Ageas Bowl
Leicestershire 496 v Surrey 146-0, Grace Road
Middlesex 210 and 26-3 v Gloucestershire 273, Lord’s
Lancashire 22-0 v Glamorgan 344, Old Trafford
Northamptonshire 441-9d v Sussex 106 and 154-4, Wantage Road
Good morning from Emerald Headingley.
We look set for a frustrating day as the predicted wet weather has arrived ahead of day three against Kent.
Unfortunately, the forecast is for things to get worse throughout the day.
When play does resume – hopefully we don’t have to wait until tomorrow – Yorkshire will be 240-5 in their first innings replying to Kent’s 305.
Gary Ballance is unbeaten on 91 and short of his 41st career first-class century. We have said it time and time again, ‘What a player!’
Given two full days of cricket remaining, Yorkshire would be very confident of forcing a fourth victory in five games against a Kent side who are winless and at the foot of the Group Three table.
The two late wickets of Brook and Tattersall last night were a blow, but with Ballance at the crease and the lower order in excellent order at the minute, a first-innings lead is well within our grasp.
We will keep you updated through the day with regards to prospects of play, and the live stream is available once more when we do get going.
