“It was a typical Headingley day. It seamed around all day, so it wasn’t easy to bat. They bowled well and then we bowled well. It was nice to pick up five wickets.
“It was a good fightback.
“It wasn’t easy as a batter – you never felt in. There was always a good ball in there.
“We scrapped to 180 odd. It would have been nice to get a few more, but to get them five down was good.
“You try and not take too much notice of the other scores and just worry about what we have to do. But it’s hard not to look.
“We know what’s happening around the country, and we know what we need to do. Hopefully we can do it this week.
“(10,000 runs) I always want to contribute and perform for the team. It’s nice to get a milestone like that, but the main thing is the team. I’ve got to keep working hard, and hopefully I can keep doing that over a long period of time.”

Tea Report
Yorkshire are attempting to recover from the loss of three wickets for two runs midway through their opening session against Hampshire at Emerald Headingley.
Rain prevented any play until 12.40pm in the penultimate Specsavers County Championship match of the season, with the hosts reaching tea at 110-6 in the 36th over.
Hampshire have had the better of the session in bowler-friendly conditions after electing to bowl, with the White Rose slipping from 70-2 to 72-5.
Gary Ballance hit a fluent 30, passing 10,000 first-class runs in the process.
But he was one of those three quick wickets to fall, trapped lbw by Gareth Berg, who also bowled Tom Kohler-Cadmore via an under-edge as he attempted to chop on.
It has been a helter-skelter start to this clash, with Yorkshire going at more than 4.5 runs per over in the opening 15 overs, losing Jeet Raval and Harry Brook.
Hampshire also dropped Brook first ball and Tim Bresnan first ball, although the latter reached tea 17 not out.
Ian Holland also struck twice in the session, matching Berg, including bowling Jonny Tattersall at the start of the afternoon’s final over.

Lunch Report
There was no play possible before lunch on day one in the penultimate round Specsavers County Championship match between Yorkshire and Hampshire at Emerald Headingley due to rain.
Hampshire captain James Vince opted for an uncontested toss and to bowl first prior to an expected 10.45am start following overnight rain.
However, just before the start, the rain returned.
There was enough time for Yorkshire captain Steve Patterson to hand a county cap to seamer Ben Coad, the 24-year-old who has taken 90 wickets and counting in the last two seasons of Championship cricket.
Yorkshire came into this fixture needing a maximum of 18 points from the final two games to secure their Division One future, while Hampshire need a maximum of eleven.
After successive wins over Worcestershire and Somerset, they will have designs on finishing third rather than looking over their shoulders.
11.10am Umpires Michael Gough and Graham Lloyd have called for an early lunch at noon.
10.53am The rain is coming down harder now, but there is good news from elsewhere. Worcestershire are 12-4 against Essex at Chelmsford.

Good morning from Emerald Headingley, where it is currently dry and bright, but we have had some overnight rain, and the covers remain in place. Therefore we are as yet unsure over a start on time.
Yorkshire begin the week knowing they need a maximum of 18 points from the final two games, against Hampshire and Worcestershire, to avoid relegation.
They will be in buoyant mood following last week’s Roses win over Lancashire here. Hampshire, likewise. They have won their last two matches against Worcestershire and Somerset to pull themselves clear of danger.
The players are starting to warm up, so a 10.30am start is not yet out of the question.
