10.55am – We are five minutes from the start of play here at North Marine Road, where it remains overcast. Middleton and Akhter will resume for Gloucestershire.

9.20am – Good morning from North Marine Road, where it’s an overcast start to day three. That should be a good thing for Yorkshire in the grand scheme of things, as today is likely to be a bowling day.

Gloucestershire, replying to our 456 all out, will resume on 168-7 – still a long way short of the follow-on target of 307. That’s what they need to make Yorkshire bat again. And from Jordan Thompson’s comments last night, it’s likely Yorkshire will enforce given the chance.

Thompson was one of two standout performers yesterday, first hitting 44 with the bat and taken striking twice with the ball. Matthew Revis also claimed three wickets.

While they still have plenty of work to do, Yorkshire’s first Championship win of 2024 is within reach. If things go swimmingly, it could be achieved today.
