6.20pm – We’ve been the allotted overs for the day, but with 10 minutes remaining we’ll get a couple more in. 167-3.

6.08pm – Glamorgan 159-3 in the 53rd over. Northeast 39 and Ingram 38. They have put on 66 unbroken. The visitors trail by 139. Revis is searching for wicket number four, and the sun’s breaking through.

5.37pm – We’ve got 12 overs remaining, in theory, but as long as the light holds we should get more in if the spinners continue as we will play until 6.30pm. Glamorgan 135-3, trailing by 163. Northeast 27, Ingram 28.

5.27pm – We have 15 overs remaining in the day. Glamorgan are 118-3 after 41. Northeast 18, Ingram 20. They trail by 180.

4.59pm – WICKET! Carlson run out by a combination of Root and Tattersall. Struck it against Root – from Bess’s bowling – at silly point and it’s ricocheted back to the keeper who has whipped the bails off. 93-3 in the 32nd.

4.53pm – The floodlights are on now, with Glamorgan 85-2 in the 31st over. We still have the best part of 26 remaining in the day.

4.30pm – WICKET! Byrom caught at deep square-leg on the sweep at Bess, 30. Coad takes the catch. It’s 72-2 in the 23rd.

4.19pm – We’re up and running after tea. Bess to Byrom, with Glamorgan 68-1 in the 19th. Thompson on the field for Fisher.

4pm – Fisher is on his feet and on his way back to the dressing room. Looked life left ankle.

3.57pm – Tea. Oh no, Fisher has tripped trying to save a boundary and is on the floor in significant discomfort beyond the rope. 68-1 in the 19th. Tea has been taken.

3.49pm – WICKET! Root played on to Moriarty, 35. Defended on the back foot and it dribbled back onto his stumps. 56-1 in the 18th.

3.46pm – 15 minutes or so until tea and Glamorgan are holding firm at present. They are 54-0 after 17. Root has 34 of them.

3.25pm – Bess into the attack in place of Coad. Glamorgan 35-0 after 10.

3.15pm – Moriarty into the attack in place of Fisher at 19-0 after seven overs.

3.08pm – Glamorgan after six overs from Coad and Fisher. They trail by 287. Byrom and Root at the crease.

2.45pm – Glamorgan’s second innings – they trail by 298 – starts with 56 overs remaining in the day. Coad with the new ball.

2.34pm – WICKET! Yorkshire have declared on 519-7 at the start of 95th, a lead of 298. Brook fell caught at backward point off Crane (fifth wicket) for an excellent 65.

2.27pm – WICKET! Revis bowled sweeping at Crane, who has a fourth wicket. 518-6 in the 93rd over – a lead of 297. Bess in to join Brook, 64.

2.18pm – WICKET! Tattersall stumped off Crane for fine 55. 510-5, a lead of 289. Revis in now.

2.17pm – Now Tattersall reaches his fifty, off 51 balls with 8x4s and 1x6s. The six got him there. Excellent knock, and it’s 504-4 now, a lead of 283.

2.09pm – Brook reaches his fifty off 63 balls with 3x4s and 2x6s. We’ve moved to 488-4, a lead of 267. Tattersall 42.

1.49pm – We’re set for the start of the afternoon. Yorkshire 458-4 after 81 overs. Brook 37 and Tattersall 24. We lead by 237.

1.10pm – Lunch. Another serene session for Yorkshire, who have advanced to 458-4 from 81 overs, leading by 237. Brook 37 and Tattersall 24. Bean 173 and Root 156 the morning wickets to fall.

1.05pm – Yorkshire 453-4 after 79 overs. Maximum five batting points secured in double-quick time. Brook 36 and Tattersall 20.

12.48pm – WICKET! Root trapped lbw for a brilliant 156. Yorkshire 431-4. Like Bean earlier, he gets a standing ovation from the Headingley faithful. 210 lead and Tattersall is in to join Brook on 34.

12.44pm – Root reaches a superb 150 off 158 balls with 21x4s. Yorkshire 427-3 in the 75th over, a lead of 206. Brook 32.

12.32pm – Root 145 and Brook 23 have already added 46 for the fourth wicket. Yorkshire 405-3 in the 71st over and cruising towards a fifth batting point. The lead 124.

12.07pm – SIX! Brook hoists Crane down the ground towards Howard Stand, moving to 7. 371-3.

11.58am – WICKET! Now he’s been bowled by Crane for a stunning 173 – 359-3. Brook comes in.

11.57am – SIX! Bean hoists Crane straight, into the Howard Stand. His fifth six, and he has 173 out of 359-2 in the 63rd, a lead of 138. Root 122.

11.46am – 250 partnership between Bean 162 and Root 118. An imperious display of batting. 344-2, and our lead is 123.

11.43am – Back-to-back boundaries for Root off McIlroy, the latter a glorious cover drive. He has 116 out of 341-2, a lead of 120.

11.31am – At 323-2, our lead is now 102. Bean 153 and Root 106.

11.26am – Bean reaches his 150 off 166 balls with 22 fours and four sixes. Outstanding knock. We’re 320-2 now.

11.09am – HUNDRED! Root gets there off 100 balls with his 14th boundary. Fabulous. 303-2 in the 52nd, a lead of 82.

11.05am – Early life for Bean, who is dropped at first slip by Ingram off Hamza on 140 – his overnight score – in the day’s second over. Yorkshire 299-2. Root 96.

11am – Play is about to begin here at Headingley in lovely morning sunshine. Yorkshire 295-2, a lead of 74. Root 92 will face Harris to get us going. Bean 140.

9.43am – We will have 104 overs again in the day at Headingley today as we look to make up some of the overs lost on day one.

8.34am – Good morning from Headingley, where it’s a lovely settled morning ahead of day three.

Yorkshire will head into it, starting at 11am, in great shape. They are 295-2 in reply to a first-innings 221. Fin Bean is 140 not out and Joe Root 92. They have shared 201 unbroken for the third wicket.

The pitch is deteriorating, and Yorkshire will be looking to add more runs during the first half of the day and then get bowling. The weather seems ok for the next couple of days. Maybe a bit of rain tomorrow, but nothing drastic. So there should be plenty of time to complete win number one of 2024.
