Andrew Gale

“It was a fantastic win from where we were on the first day.

“We we were disappointed and didn’t do ourselves justice. We can be better than that.

“But the character, resilience and attitude we showed from then on, we did fantastically well.

“To win by a decent margin in the end, I’m really proud of them.”

12.11pm YORKSHIRE WIN!! Crocombe caught by Willey at mid-wicket off Bess. 186 all out. 48-run win, and the White Rose claim 19 points. Two away successes in two weeks. Fantastic.

12.05pm WICKET It’s Brown – huge wicket, Thompson uproots his middle stump for 46. Two in two overs for Yorkshire Sussex 180-9. We’re nearly there.

12pm WICKET Root strikes with his third ball to get Carson caught at slip for 18. 180-8. 55 more for Sussex.

11.48am First bowling change of the day sees Thompson replace Patterson from the Cromwell Road End. 166-7. 69 more needed for the hosts.

11.38am It’s getting nervy. Carson has just edged a boundary off Patterson, taking Sussex’s target down to 72. They are 163-7 in the 63rd over. Brown 37 and Carson 10.

11.24am WICKET Breakthrough comes courtesy of the skipper. Patterson traps Robinson lbw for six after two previous shouts were turned down. 145-7 now. Sussex still 90 away from the target. Brown and Carson at the crease.

11.04am Sussex 138-6 in the second over of the day, bowled by Bess. Brown and Robinson at the crease as Sussex chase 235. Patterson sharing bowling duties.

10.48am Whilst undertaking media duties last night, Dom Bess was speaking about his move up to Leeds with his girlfriend, Phoebe.

They have recently rescued a puppy from Bosnia – a Chow chow cross German Shepherd called Bernie.

Have to say, was kind of expecting the new arrival to be a Yorkshire Terrier! Maybe next time, hey.

Highlights

Good morning from Hove.

It is a bright and chilly morning at The 1st Central County Ground.

Whilst we are all set for day four weather wise, starting at 11am, there are plenty of clouds in the sky, something we haven’t seen at all during the previous three days.

Yorkshire need four more wickets for victory here, and Sussex need 99 runs.

The game could still go either way, but Yorkshire are the more likely winners.

That wicket of George Garton in the closing stages of day three, caught behind off Dom Bess, has put the game in Yorkshire’s hands.

Bess was superb yesterday for his 5-33.

Sussex captain Ben Brown will begin the day unbeaten on 26 and is a danger. Ollie Robinson, Jack Carson, Sean Hunt and Henry Crocombe are all still to come.

Success would see Yorkshire clinch back-to-back away wins, something they also did at the start of last year against Durham and Notts.

The stream will be available once more. Enjoy the day.
