3.55pm – Procter reaches his fifty off 109 balls with 7x4s. Northamptonshire 170-5 in the 49th over in reply to 362.
3.48pm – Northamptonshire, at 167-5 with Procter 49 and McManus 3, need to reach 213 to avoid the follow-on. We have a just a touch more than five overs to tea. If Yorkshire can pick up another wicket beforehand, that comes into view somewhat. Of course, Masood may not enforce. But it would be lovely to have the choice.
3.28pm – WICKET! Sub Bess (on for Fernando) takes a brilliant catch on the run from long-leg towards deep square-leg to help Leech get rid of Keogh, who goes for 28. It’s 154-5 in the 43rd.

2.22pm – Hill, in his follow through, has just stopped a drive from Procter, who had set off for the single on 25. Hill palmed the ball down and then kicked it at the stumps as the batter scrambled to make his ground. The attempt missed, with plenty of interest from the slips. Would have been interesting to see what the umpire’s decision would have been. 108-2 after 28 overs.
1.57pm – WICKET! Vasconcelos has top-edged Fernando behind to Tattersall, 34. It’s 94-2, and that’s our Sri Lankan quick’s 300th first-class wicket.

1.02pm – Lunch. Northamptonshire, replying to Yorkshire’s 362, have reached the break on 84-1 from 18 overs. Vasconcelos 29, Procter 17. Hill with the only wicket.
12.54pm – We’ve just had a swarm of bees or wasps sweep across the ground, with all the players dropping to the floor to get out of the way.

11.10am – Fast start for Yorkshire as Thompson 28 and Revis 22 bring up a half-century stand at 331-7. Eighteen runs came off the first two overs of the day.
11.01am – Thompson has edged the first ball of the day wide of the slips for four, off Sanderson. It’s 316-7. He has 18.
10.48am – There’s a bit more cloud around as we approach the start of play. But the sun still shines bright.
9.50am – Good morning from Wantage Road, where we’re all set for a full day’s play. You can’t say that with a great deal of certainty on many occasions in England, but today looks like one of the rare times you can.

Yorkshire will begin day two on 312-7 having had a good day yesterday. Adam Lyth scored a brilliant 109 – a determined effort to see off the new ball and progress on a difficult pitch.
Fingers crossed, Matthew Revis and Jordan Thompson can add another 50 or 60 this morning with the rest of the tail. Then it’s all about Vishwa Fernando and the bowlers.
