2.38pm – The ball from Sanderson didn’t actually strike his right wrist. But in playing and missing, it looked like he got his left wrist into a strange position. Maybe more of a hyper-extension injury. Difficult one to explain. He’s continuing though.

2.33pm – We have just had a delay as Masood on 57 received treatment having been struck on the wrist. Yorkshire 114-3, a lead of 175. Masood faces a couple more balls and he’s in need of more treatment.

10.50am – There will be an inspection at 10.55am here at Wantage Road.

10.39am – The rain has stopped now, and the players are on their way out to resume their warm-ups. Whether we start on time at 11am is in question.

10.22am – The rain is falling at Wantage Road now. The ground-staff are putting the covers on.

9.20am – Good morning from Wantage Road, where it’s an overcast start to day three. There has been some overnight rain, but hopefully not enough to threaten a start on time at 11am. The ground-staff are mopping up as we speak.

In truth, it would be a surprise to see us get the full allocation of 96 overs in today. There has been talk for a couple of days now that Sunday and Monday aren’t great forecasts. There is also the light to factor in. The sun is nowhere to be seen. It’s fine now, but it might not be come 5pm or 6pm.

Yorkshire have to clear their heads. Yesterday evening was a horrible session for them, as Northamptonshire, replying to 362 in the first innings, advanced from 181-7 to 301 all out and then struck once with the ball in the final over of the day, leaving the visitors at 0-1.

Shan Masood was a frustrated man at close, calling on his side to be more clinical. You can read his thoughts in our reaction piece, which is linked below – as is yesterday’s match report.

Match Report Shan Masood

There were positives yesterday, despite the late frustration. Jordan Thompson was good with the bat, Matthew Revis with the ball and Vishwa Fernando too.

More positives for a prolonged period today – as long as the weather holds – and Yorkshire could be in business.
