6.13pm – That is close of play.

6.10pm – We’re off for bad light, out of nowhere, at 141-7 after 53 overs, and that’s almost certainly going to be that for the day.

5.57pm – Tribe reaches his fifty off 138 balls with 6x4s and 1x6s. Glamorgan 137-7 with a little more than five overs remaining in the day.

5.50pm – WICKET! Crane brilliantly caught one-handed going low to his right at third slip by Bean off Thompson, 4. Glamorgan 129-7 in the 48th.

Suspect we’re now into last half-hour territory now.

5.35pm – WICKET! Van der Gugten bowled by Fisher for 8. Glamorgan 120-6 in the 45th over.

5.16pm – We have 15 overs remaining in the day, and Glamorgan are 104-5 after 40 chasing 396. Tribe 34, Van der Gugten 1.

4.55pm – WICKET! Cooke caught behind off Coad, who has a fourth. Glamorgan are 94-5 in the 34th over. 396 target. Coad is only two short of 300 first-class wickets as well.

4.47pm – WICKET! Kellaway caught at second slip by Lyth off Hill, 4. It’s 91-4 in the 34th over as Glamorgan chase 396.

4.32pm – WICKET! Carlson bowled by Coad, 41. It’s 84-3 in the 31st over. Tribe has 27. Glamorgan are chasing 396.

And guess, what, Ottis and Ali are still wandering around. Left for wickets, hey. Keep walking, gents!

4.19pm – Ottis Gibson and Ali Maiden are doing a lap around the boundary at present, with Glamorgan 79-2 in the 28th over. What is it those who are superstitious say, ‘Right for runs, left for wickets’? They’ve gone left. Fingers crossed.

4.07pm – We’re up and running after tea, with Fisher and Coad in operation. Glamorgan are 74-2 after 25 overs chasing 396. Carlson 35, Tribe 27.

3.40pm – Tea. Yorkshire have ended the session with spin from both ends, in the form of Bess and Moriarty. Glamorgan, chasing 396, are 72-2 from 23 overs. Carlson 33, Tribe 23.

3.18pm – Glamorgan 50-2 in the 18th over. Carlson 22, Tribe 13 as they chase 396. Hill and Thompson in the attack at the moment.

One thing we need to keep an eye on is that Yorkshire are minus two on the over-rate at present. You get deducted a point for every over you are behind the rate at the end of the game.

2.59pm – Thompson into the attack in place of Coad, with Glamorgan 34-2 after 12 overs. Carlson 7, Tribe 12. They are chasing 396.

2.37pm – WICKET! Ingram caught at mid-wicket by Wharton off Coad, who has his 50th Championship wicket of the season. Fabulous. Glamorgan are 20-2 in the seventh.

2.10pm – WICKET! Near perfect start for Yorkshire as Coad is successful with an lbw appeal. Glamorgan captain Northeast falls for 0, and it’s 0-1 after three balls.

1.49pm – WICKET! Moriarty bowled by Harris, 12, and we’re 273 all out, and Glamorgan will need 396 to win. Harris finishes with 5-73.

1.43pm – WICKET! Bess caught behind off van der Gugten, 47. Smart diving catch. We’re 252-9, a lead of 374. Moriarty in to join Coad, 2.

1.35pm – WICKET! Thompson trapped lbw by van der Gugten, 4. We’re 249-8, a lead of 371. Coad in to join Bess, who has 46.

1.27pm – WICKET! Tattersall has been trapped lbw by Morris for 40, leaving the score at 244-7 – a lead of 366. That ends a 76-run partnership with Bess, who has 45. Thompson in now.

1.26pm – England are 75-1 in the 13th over of the opening ODI against Australia at Trent Bridge. Duckett 35, Jacks 20.

1.11pm – We’re all set for the resumption after lunch. We’re 224-6, a lead of 346, with Tattersall 32, Bess 33. Van der Gugten has the ball for Glamorgan.

12.33pm – Lunch. A tricky start to the morning for Yorkshire, but a very positive end. We’re 224-6 from 56 overs, a lead of 346. Tattersall 32, Bess 33. They’ve added 56 unbroken for the seventh wicket.

12.26pm – Half-century stand between Tattersall and Bess, who have 30 apiece. Excellent. Yorkshire 219-6, a lead of 341.

12.20pm – SIX! Bess has just pulled Gorvin over backward square-leg and now has 26, overtaking Tattersall (25). We’re 210-6, a lead of 332.

12.17pm – We’re into the closing stages of an eventful morning here at Sophia Gardens, where Yorkshire are 200-6 in the second innings, leading by 322. Tattersall 25, Bess 16.

12.09pm – Sussex have also beaten Gloucestershire at Bristol and are promoted to Division One.

12pm – Middlesex have beaten Derbyshire at Derby and, for now, regain second place in the Division Two table. Yorkshire will retake the lead with either a draw or a win here at Sophia Gardens. At 183-6, we lead by 305. Tattersall 19, Bess 5.

11.48am – WICKET! Hill bowled trying to leave an in-swinger from van der Gugten, 4. Could have been an inside-edge on the way through. We’re 168-6 in the 45th over, a lead of 290. Bess in alongside Tattersall, 13.

11.30am – It’s difficult to tell exactly from the vantage point in the press box as we’re about in line with third slip to the right-hander bowling from the River Taff End, but it looks as if swing is doing the bulk of the damage rather than seam. The replay of the Wharton lbw to Harris indicates late swing back in. We’re 157-5 now, a lead of 279. Tattersall 6, Hill yet to score.

Sussex and Middlesex are both on the verge of victories in their respective matches.

11.20am – WICKET! Bairstow trapped lbw by Harris, 6. We’ve fallen to 152-5 after 38 overs, a lead of 274. Hill in now alongside Tattersall, 2.

11.04am – Yorkshire have announced the appointment of former county, England and Scotland all-rounder Gavin Hamilton as the club’s new general manager, a newly created role responsible for delivering cricket success across all formats of the game. Hamilton assumes post on November 1.

10.59am – WICKET! Harris gets Wharton lbw, 9. We’re 144-4 in the 34th over, a lead of 266. Bairstow in now.

10.56am – WICKET! Fisher bowled by Gorvin, 15 – 144-3 in the 33rd over, a lead of 266. Tattersall in now alongside Wharton, who has 9.

10.44am – Runs have come freely in the opening three overs of the day – 19 of them. We’re 135-2, leading by 257, with Fisher 6, Wharton 9.

10.34am – WICKET! Bean trapped lbw by Harris for a well made 57 in the day’s opening over, and we’re 120-2 with a lead of 242. Wharton in now.

10.30am – Early boundary for Bean moves him to 57 out of 120-1, a lead of 242. He’s facing Harris, with Fisher yet to score.

10.27am – Much brighter now as the players head to the middle. Yorkshire will resume on 116-1 in their second innings, leading by 238.

10am – The players are warming up, and it remains overcast here at Sophia Gardens.

8.20am – Good morning from Sophia Gardens in Cardiff, where it’s an overcast but dry start to day three.

Yorkshire will resume on 116-1, leading by 238 in their second innings. Fin Bean will be unbeaten on 53 and Matthew Fisher yet to score as night-watchman.

A declaration with a lead of around 450-500 is the likely aim for Yorkshire at some point today before the bowlers get to work on sealing the victory. Fisher will hopefully play a key role at both ends of the day.

It will be another fascinating day in the Division Two promotion race, with Yorkshire sandwiched in between leaders Sussex and second-placed Middlesex. Sussex are at Gloucestershire, with the hosts 140-3 in their second innings and 62 behind. Middlesex are at Derbyshire, who are 74-3 in their second innings and 111 behind.

As things stand, it’s looking like all three top sides will win. It may not end up like that, but Yorkshire, Sussex and Middlesex will – at this point in time – be favourites.

If Sussex beat Gloucestershire at Bristol, they will be promoted. In reality, Yorkshire’s main concern is finishing second.

If Yorkshire win and Middlesex win this week, Yorkshire’s advantage will be 15 points heading into next week’s final round of matches.
