12.41pm The rain has returned to Sophia Gardens here in Cardiff. Just when we thought things were looking up!

Lunch Report There was no play possible before lunch on the opening day of Yorkshire’s LV= Insurance County Championship match against Glamorgan at Sophia Gardens.

Overnight rain has been the main issue in Cardiff, where Yorkshire are waiting to begin their sixth Group Three match of the summer and will chase a fourth victory.

Wicketkeeper Harry Duke, a former England Under 19, will make his first-class – and first-team – debut behind the stumps having replaced out of form Jonny Tattersall.

However, there was encouraging news for Tattersall in that he scored a half-century in Yorkshire’s second-team fixture with Lancashire at Scarborough earlier this week.

It is not currently raining at Cardiff, with a couple of Yorkshire players wandering out to inspect the outfield just after 11am as the sun attempted to break through.

10.30am We have news, and it’s frustrating. There will be no play before lunch here at Sophia Gardens.

It is not actually raining at present, and the ground staff are working hard to get all the water off the covers.

10.09am The Diamonds are in friendly action today against the England Academy at Weetwood. Fingers crossed, the weather is much better there today.

10.08am It is a fairly light round in terms of fixtures elsewhere in the Championship….

Durham v Worcestershire, Riverside
Essex v Derbyshire, Chelmsford
Middlesex v Hampshire, Lord’s
Somerset v Surrey, Taunton
Sussex v Kent, Hove

Good morning from Sophia Gardens.

It is not great news I’m afraid ahead of day one of our Championship clash with Glamorgan.

Whilst it is only raining very lightly at the moment, there has been a lot of rain over the last 24 hours or so and the covers are firmly in place.

We can safely say there will be a delayed start. Fingers crossed we get some play later on today.

Yorkshire are searching for win number four from their sixth game, with this the final one before a week’s break.

Harry Duke is set to make his first-class debut behind the stumps having replaced Jonny Tattersall.

This game is being televised live by Sky, and there will be a live stream available as well.

We will keep you updated on prospects of play.
