Reaction – Matthew Fisher
“I’m buzzing about the wickets in my spell, but I’m perhaps more chuffed that I think that was my 38th to 42nd overs in the game, so that’s something really pleasing for me to be able to back it up.”
“The ball didn’t really do much after the new ball. The pitch went flatter. But I could get my swing back going when the other new ball came.
“At lunch when they were still two down and hadn’t lost a wicket in the morning, we still believed – but the belief was dwindling a little bit.
“We still knew that being patient and keeping them dry was keeping us in the game for as long as possible. But we knew we had to do something with that new ball. Thankfully we did to turn it back in our favour.”

5.58pm Life for Malan. He’s dropped at first slip by Dickson off Raine on 32. Yorkshire 75-3, needing 96 more to win.
5.29pm Kohler-Cadmore gone! He’s trapped lbw by Rushworth for 24, 56-3. Rushworth has claimed his 500th first-class wicket as well.
5.12pm Fingers crossed, the ship is being steadied. Yorkshire are 39-2. Malan 22 and Kohler-Cadmore 11. 132 more to win.
4.31pm Fraine follows Lyth, unfortunately. He’s been trapped lbw by Rushworth. Yorkshire slip to 4-2.
4.24pm Lyth gone! He’s trapped lbw by Rushworth for four. Yorkshire 4-1 in the fourth over.
Tea report A stunning four-wicket burst with the new ball from Matthew Fisher has put Yorkshire back on track for an opening round Bob Willis Trophy win over Durham at Emirates Riverside, with them requiring 171 runs to win in the final four sessions of the match.
Former White Rose opener Alex Lees posted his fourth first-class century since leaving the county towards the end of 2018, but he was the first of Fisher’s quartet of wickets in only 19 balls as Durham fell from 221-3 to 239-9 in their second innings during the third afternoon.
Jordan Thompson replaced Fisher (4-54 from 19 overs) from the Finchale End of the Riverside and struck twice in a stunning overall collapse of six wickets for 18 runs.
Durham were eventually bowled out for 266 on the stroke of tea.
Fisher got the ball swinging late, and at pace. In to the left-handers and out to the right.
He uprooted Lees’ off-stump via pad with the sixth ball of the 91st over – the first with the new ball.
In the 95th, he then yorked Jack Burnham – off and leg-stumps out of the ground – and trapped Ned Eckersley lbw.
And in the 98th, he then trapped Paul Coughlin lbw.
When Thompson replaced him, he had immediate success, striking with his third ball of the 103rd over when Ben Raine lost his off-stump.
In the 105th, he left Durham nine down with a lead of 135 when Matty Potts edged him to Tom Kohler-Cadmore at first slip.
Durham’s downfall was in no small part to the miserly bowling of Ben Coad, who deserved more reward with the new ball. In all, he only conceded 23 runs from 25 overs in the second innings without striking.
A 27-run stand for the 10th wicket between Chris Rushworth and Gareth Harte means this game by no means a definite Yorkshire win.
Rushworth was trapped lbw by Patterson in the 110th.
But they will be confident of reaching their target on a pitch which has got easier for batting. As Durham showed, though, they must see off the new ball.
3.50pm – Tea Patterson traps Rushworth lbw. 266 all out. Yorkshire need 171 runs to win.
3.29pm Stunning passage of play for Yorkshire, who have taken six wickets for 10 runs. Potts caught at first slip off Thompson for 0. Durham are 239-9, leading by 143.
3.18pm OUT! Thompson comes into the attack to replace Fisher and strikes after three balls. Raine is bowled, off stump gone. 231-8, a lead of 135.
2.56pm Fisher again!!!! Coughlin’s been trapped lbw – four wickets at a cost of three runs for the new ball quick. 229-7. Durham’s lead is 133.
2.47pm Eckersley gone! And another. Fisher flying. Two in three balls. Eckersley lbw. 225-6, Durham’s lead is 129.
2.44pm Burnham gone! What an absolute peach of a delivery from Fisher, who uproots middle and leg stumps with a searing yorker which leaves the batsman on all fours in his crease. 225-5 now.
2.27pm OUT! Fisher uproots Lees’ off-stump. He’s gone for 106. 221-4. Durham lead by 125.
2.26pm New ball taken immediately. Durham 221-3, leading by 125.
2.18pm Lees gets to an excellent hundred, off 253 balls with 7×4s. That’s his fourth in first-class cricket since leaving Yorkshire towards the end of 2018. Durham are 215-3 in the 90th over, a lead of 119. New ball due at the start of the next over. Key hour coming up.
2.05pm WICKET!! The breakthrough comes as Patterson traps Bedingham lbw for 77. Durham are 207-3 after 86 overs, leading by 111. That broke a stand of 136 between Bedingham and Lees.
1.44pm The afternoon session has begun, with Lyth bowling to his old opening partner Lees. Durham 195-2, leading by 99.
Lunch report Yorkshire have been unable to make the breakthrough during the third morning of their Bob Willis Trophy clash with Durham at Emirates Riverside.
Durham, starting the day on 106-2 in their second innings with a lead of 10, have advanced to reach lunch at 194-2 from 80 overs, a lead of 98.
Former White Rose opener Alex Lees and South African debutant David Bedingham have advanced to an unbroken century partnership for the third wicket – 123 to be precise.
Bedingham (68 not out) reached his fifty off 111 balls, while Lees, who brought up that milestone yesterday, has advanced from 58 to 92 not out.
The pair, largely watchful, upped the tempo a touch as the morning progressed having only scored their first boundary in the 11th over of the day.
Pitch conditions have given Yorkshire’s bowlers little encouragement under sunny North East skies.
1.03pm – Lunch Durham are 194-2 from 80 overs, leading by 98. Lees has 92 and Bedingham 68. They have advanced their partnership to 123.

12.33pm Durham 158-2 in the 73rd over. The new ball is due in 17 and a bit overs.
12.13pm Bedingham has just square driven Fisher for four, with the ball rolling under the temporary stand. Dawid Malan ended up crawling under it to retrieve the ball. 145-2.
11.50am Durham move to 129-2 after 63 overs. Bedingham has just hit their first boundary of the day – in its 11th over. He has 28 and Lees 71. Durham lead by 33.

11.24am Some funky fielding positions being employed as Yorkshire search for the breakthrough on a pitch which has gone lifeless. Tattersall is stood up to the stumps for both Coad and Patterson, with a short cover and a short mid-off employed in recent overs. Durham are 115-2, leading by 19. Lees has 62 and Bedingham 23.
11.09am We are up and running at the Riverside. Durham have moved to 108-2, leading by 12 in their second innings. Coad and Patterson take up the attack at the start of play.
Good morning from Emirates Riverside ahead of the third day of our Bob Willis Trophy game against Durham.
Yorkshire remain in the box seat to win it, but there’s no doubt Durham fought back impressively yesterday. Having been bowled out for 103 during Saturday’s opening day, they would have been pretty concerned. Now, though, they will be hopeful of pushing for a win themselves.
You would much rather be in Yorkshire’s position, though. Durham lead by 10 runs with eight second-innings wickets in hand on a pitch which has gone sluggish.
If Yorkshire can strike early with a couple of wickets in the opening half hour or so, Durham will be back under the cosh, especially given their scoring rate is around two an over.
