The Yorkshire County Cricket Club is thrilled to announce that all-rounder George Hill has signed a new contract extension.

The 24-year-old will remain with the Club until at least the end of the 2028 season.

Having broken into the First XI in 2020, Hill was awarded his First XI cap during the final game of 2024, a season in which he hit his highest first-class score of 169*.

Another product of the Yorkshire Academy, Hill follows James Wharton and Ben Coad in committing his long-term future to the Club.

And with Jawad Akhtar, Noah Kelly, Erin Thomas and Alex Wade – all products of the county’s much envied Academy and pathway system – having signed their maiden professional contracts in recent months, it highlights Yorkshire’s desire to back its homegrown talent across both the men’s and women’s squads.

Keighley native Hill is delighted to be staying and wants to push on as Yorkshire set their sights on Division One Cricket.

Hill said; “I am so happy to be signing for the next three years. Growing up, playing for Yorkshire was something I always wanted to do, so to be a part of the team now, I feel incredibly lucky.

“I believe I’ve really developed alongside the team over the last couple of seasons. The atmosphere in the changing room is a really positive one and playing with some of my best mates is so much fun.

“We achieved a lot last year but its now about making sure we build on this, and I can’t wait to be a part of it.”

Head Coach Anthony McGrath said he is also excited to see Hill kick on further.

“George’s attitude and work ethic are second to none”, he commented. “He’s put real effort into ensuring he maintains the highest standards and the rest of the lads recognise how hard he works.

“It’s great to have a character like George in the team and I’m really looking forward to seeing him challenge batters and bowlers alike in the top division.”

Gavin Hamilton, General Manager of Cricket added, “We’re very happy to see George sign his new contract. He’s a very skilful player with a real team ethos and takes immense pride in playing for Yorkshire. His performances at the back end of 2024 showed this and I am sure he’ll push on further this year.”
