SCORECARD

Yorkshire’s D40 Pursuit side got the county’s Disability summer off to the perfect start with a commanding victory over Shropshire yesterday, with a series of contributions aiding their cause.

The Pursuit team are effectively the county’s second XI in that set-up behind their Quest side.

Playing in the North and Midlands Division, they triumphed by five wickets at Allscott Heath CC as they chased a 40-over target of 116 with significant room to spare.

Oliver Wills and Jasper Spooner struck three times apiece as Shropshire were bowled out for 115. A wicket apiece for William Baxter, Lewis Daniels and Zac King ensured all five bowlers used by captain Archie Atkins-Sloan were in the wickets.

In reply, King opened up with 30, a score matched by unbeaten debutant Harry Backhouse in the middle order.

The White Rose, fielding three U16s and a 17-year-old, won in 25 overs of the home chase.

Yorkshire’s Quest team have to wait until Sunday May 17 before getting their competitive matches started, away at Derbyshire. That same day, the S9 softball team travel to Wales.

Yorkshire’s winning Pursuit team actually host today’s opponents Shropshire in their next match on May 10.
