Ami Campbell says this summer's 11-run triumph over Essex at Headingley in the FA Cup of county cricket did wonders for Yorkshire’s belief ahead of their elevation to Tier 1 in 2026.

Anthony McGrath is confident Yorkshire can transfer their form during the second half of the summer into a fast start when next summer rolls around.

“We’re starting harsh!” laughs Ami Campbell. And she’s right. An opening-day defeat at Headingley against Worcestershire doesn’t exactly scream ‘Classic’, does it. However, in hindsight, it did prove to be an important moment in Yorkshire’s season. 

Tom Smith says there have been some “really good performances” at second-team level this summer even if the results have been “a bit up and down”.

We have entitled it Campbell's Classics. Setting the scene, Ami first of all talks about winning that personal award from the members and her winter plans.

Yorkshire will have as many as 13 of their men’s and women’s players playing domestic and club cricket in Australia and New Zealand this winter, while more will head Down Under in February as part of a Melbourne-based training camp organised in conjunction with Cricket Victoria.

Lady Muriel Byford, widow of the former President and Chair of the Club in the 1990s, died this month peacefully at her home in Pannal, aged 94.
