Yorkshire County Cricket Club (YCCC) is delighted to announce the signing of dynamic batter Ami Campbell from Central Sparks on a three-year deal.

Campbell, a powerful left-hander who can bat in a variety of positions in the top order, re-joins the Yorkshire Family, on a three-year deal,  having previously played for the Northern Diamonds and for the Club in county cricket.

The 33-year-old returns to Headingley to play for Yorkshire Women in the new domestic structure, having spent the last three seasons playing regional cricket for Edgbaston-based Central Sparks.

Campbell said: “It’s an exciting opportunity for me to come and play at one of the best clubs in the world. It was the best decision for me at this stage of my career.

“It was always something I wanted to do, to come back up North, because this is where it all started for me at 15 or 16-years-old playing with the likes of Lauren Winfield-Hill, Katie Levick and Phoebe Graham. I feel like I’ve played my best cricket here.

“I was at University at Leeds, and it feels like a second home for me.

“The plans Yorkshire have in place for women’s cricket are really exciting.”

In her regional career, Newcastle-born Campbell, played in three finals between 2020-2022 for the Diamonds and Sparks. She has played county cricket for Yorkshire, Durham and Worcestershire and in the Hundred for the Northern Superchargers and Manchester Originals.

Campbell has a List A best of 135 to her name and has scored 2,641 senior runs across 50-over and T20 cricket in her career.

Campbell added: “The progress women’s cricket has made across the board has been unbelievable over the last few years, and Yorkshire has been front and centre.

“I know that they’re going to push on even further, and I can’t wait to be a part of it.”

“I learnt a lot about my game over the last three years whilst I was with Sparks, and I definitely feel a more rounded player than I was when I left Diamonds. But I’m confident there’s plenty of improvement still to come over the next few seasons.”

Richard Pyrah, Yorkshire Women’s Head Coach, said: “It’s fantastic to welcome Ami back.

“Ami’s return demonstrates the unique appeal of this club and Ami is not only a brilliant cricketer, but also a great person to have in and around the squad.

“She’s an exciting batter who can score at a quick rate at the top of the order and take bowling attacks apart.

“I have no doubt she will continue to impress us all, and her experience will be so vital for the younger players in the squad.”
