Yorkshire continued their 100% start to the campaign by recording their fifth straight win with a comprehensive victory against Lancashire at Barnsley in front of a large crowd.

Skipper, George Hill, won the toss and elected to bowl first. Yash Vagadia, having his first bowl of the season picked up a wicket in the second over of the day having Hurst caught at point by James Wharton. George Balderson had made 21 from 13 balls when he was victim of an excellent catch at mid on by Noah Kelly to give Ben Cliff a wicket.

Aspinwall and George Lavelle added 47 from 37 balls before the latter was caught at deep square leg by Finlay Bean off George Hill. This started the loss of seven wickets for 46 runs in only 61 balls as Lancashire subsided from 82-2 to 128 all out.

There was a second catch for Bean and Wharton plus an excellent piece of fielding from Wharton to run out Williams. Ben Cliff finished with 3-34, Charlie McMurran 2-24 and Jack Shutt 2-13 from 4 overs.

Yorkshire raced to a six wicket victory with almost seven overs to spare. Will Luxton made 33 from 19 with 3 fours and 3 long distance sixes, Finlay Bean 36 from 21 balls with 6 fours and there were scores of 20+ from Harry Duke and George Hill.

The next game is a single T20 against Derbyshire at Abbeydale, Sheffield on Tuesday 30th May with a 2pm start. There then follows another “double header” against Nottinghamshire at Worksop College on Friday 2nd June, 11.30am and 3 pm.
