After the abandonment of our opening Group game at Derby we faced current “table toppers” Nottinghamshire in a “double header”.
GAME 1
Our visitors won the toss and elected to field first. Yash Vagadia was caught behind in the first over and Noah Kelly in the second (8-2). Owen Smith and Will Bennison added 56 in 43 deliveries before the former was caught at long off for “a run a ball” 24 however 64-2 became 101-5 and this very quickly subsided to 117 all out in less than 17 overs. Bennison being the only other to reach double figures with an excellent 59 from 36 balls with 4 fours and 5 sixes.
In reply Nottinghamshire took only 9.4 overs to record an eight wicket victory – 2 wickets for Isaac Bepey however Tom Moores hit an unbeaten 84 from 34 balls with 6 fours and 9 sixes.
GAME 2
Nottinghamshire batted first, this time Moores was dismissed for 23 from 15, however Rogers coming in at number 3 hit an unbeaten hundred from 57 balls with 9 fours and 6 sixes and with Joe Pocklington (54 no from 27 balls) they took their total to 210-3.
Vagadia made 34 from 18 balls before being caught at short fine leg but it was mainly due to 64 in 41 balls from James Wharton that we got close to the target ending on 189-7. Wharton hit 9 fours and a six but our visitors won by 21 runs.
