Sanjay Patel
Daniel Matson
Daniel is Commercial Director at Yorkshire County Cricket Club and is responsible for the Club’s commercial operations, including partnerships, marketing, ticketing and hospitality sales, communications, digital and brand.
Prior to joining Yorkshire, Daniel held senior leadership roles with organisations including Virgin Racing Formula E, Red Bull, the Premier League and Harrods, leading commercial growth and transformation across sport, retail and consumer sectors.
Daniel lives in Yorkshire with his young family.
Sally Johnson
Sally Johnson has 25 years’ experience in finance across several different sectors. Having studied Maths and Economics at Leeds University, she went on to qualify as an accountant more than 20 years ago.
She started her career in the construction industry before spending seven years in the legal sector and then 14 years in outsourcing. Sally has extensive experience of heading up finance teams, in cost reduction, and in building strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders. Sally has been a Finance Director for over 10 years with her previous role at Capita. Sally loves to drive profit improvement without impacting quality.
She loves to travel, and spends her free time travelling, walking, relaxing in a spa and dining at Betty’s in Harrogate.
Jon Barnett
Jon brings 35 years of experience in customer experience and hospitality across multiple sectors. Having started as a hotel management trainee, he later joined P&O Cruises, overseeing ground operations and cruise‑ship turnarounds.
He then spent a decade in the Middle East with Gulf Air as Director of Product & Marketing, leading lounge and inflight experience development, cabin interiors, catering, and major sponsorship hospitality, including the Bahrain Formula 1 Grand Prix. Jon later worked at Goodwood, supporting its motor circuit, corporate events, and racing festival. Now based in Yorkshire, he enjoys the outdoors, especially the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District.
Harn Jagpal
Harn Jagpal trained as a corporate lawyer before moving in‑house, spending much of her career advising FTSE 250 and AIM‑listed companies on legal and governance matters. In 2023, she became Yorkshire County Cricket Club’s first General Counsel and Company Secretary, leading sweeping governance changes, refinancing, board transformation, and the sale of Northern Superchargers.
As the Club entered a new era in 2025, she was appointed Group Strategic Counsel to drive major strategic initiatives across its growing group. A Geordie at heart but now firmly settled in Yorkshire, Harn keeps pace with her two sons’ sporting adventures while fitting in running and socialising.
Jessica Platts
Jess Platts grew up in Melbourne with a deep love of sport, which has shaped a career spanning more than 20 years in HR and workforce leadership. After earning degrees in Sport Management and HR, she worked on major global events including Commonwealth Games, Asian Games, FIFA, where she spent four formative years. She later held senior HR roles at Rio 2016, Gold Coast 2018, and Opera Australia. Now based in Leeds, she is proud to support Yorkshire County Cricket Club’s long‑term strategy, grounded in fairness, equity and inclusion.
Gavin Hamilton
Gavin Hamilton is a former professional cricketer and seasoned sports business professional with a career spanning elite performance and commercial leadership. Originally from Scotland, he joined the Yorkshire Academy in the early 1990s and went on to spend 11 years with Yorkshire County Cricket Club, earning his county cap in 1998 and contributing to the 2001 Championship‑winning side.
He also represented Scotland internationally, including at the 1999 Cricket World Cup. After later playing for Durham, Gavin transitioned into business, progressing from Caledonian Brewery to Heineken as a Key Account Manager, before roles with the PCA and running his own sports hospitality business. He has since returned to Yorkshire as General Manager of Cricket.
Shariq Mumtaz
As Managing Director of the Yorkshire Cricket Foundation (YCF), Shariq is responsible for strategic direction, operational leadership and connecting the Board of Trustees with the YCCC Executive team. He drives the YCF’s long‑term ambitions through collaborative planning and delivery.
Previously Chief Commercial Officer at Emerald Publishing, he oversaw commercial operations across multiple global regions, achieving strong Profit & Loss growth through innovation, commercial ventures and mergers & acquisitions. His earlier career included senior international sales and management roles in retail and the medical supply industry, where he led worldwide sales functions and built high‑performing teams.
