Seven Yorkshire youngsters will feature in this week’s ECB Super4s events at Loughborough University.

The annual five-day event, starting in the East Midlands tomorrow, sees the country’s best Under 18s players come together and take part in a four-team regional tournament played across both 50-over and T20 cricket.

Will Bennison, Matthew Firbank, Tom Fraine, Owen Smith, Joe Thompson, Tom Bradley and Alex Wade will all take part.

The North, Midlands, South and West and London and East are the teams. The majority of Yorkshire’s players, but not all, will represent the North side.

Six of the seven white rose players are all part of Yorkshire’s 2024 Academy squad, headed by lead coach Tom Craddock (pictured), while Sheffield Collegiate’s Bradley is on the county’s Emerging Players Programme.

Will Bennison (Sheriff Hutton Bridge), Matthew Firbank (Clifton Alliance), Tom Fraine (York), Owen Smith (Barnsley Woolley Miners), Joe Thompson (Clifton Alliance) and Alex Wade (Olicanian) are all on the Academy.

Meanwhile, Yorkshire’s Academy/U18s side have qualified for the final of the County Under 18s One-Day Cup, against Middlesex at Kibworth in Leicestershire on Sunday September 1.

Yorkshire beat Leicestershire in the semi-final at Uppingham School last Sunday, by 141 runs.

Opener Bennison made 104 in Yorkshire’s 249 all out, while Jack Redshaw added 64. In reply, the Foxes were bowled out for 108 as spinner Josh Hen-Boisen claimed 4-22.
