Yorkshire women claimed a stunning come-from-behind win in their season-opening clash with North East Warriors at the Seat Unique Riverside today.

The North East Warriors, the moniker for Durham’s women’s team, were chasing a total of 236 on the opening day of the County Championship summer.

But they slipped from 139-0 to 213 all out, with Bethany Slater starring with 4-32 from 10 overs.

Robyn Dennington struck twice, while Elicia Pollard, Lucy Randle-Bissell and contracted Northern Diamonds professional Emma Marlow were all in the wickets.

Earlier, opener Erin Thomas top-scored with 60 for Yorkshire, while wicketkeeper-batter Ellie Nightingale added 59 not out.

Opener Amelia Oliver made 33 and shared 77 for the first wicket with England Under 19s winter tourist Thomas, while captain Hannah Buck also contributed 23.

This fixture pitted a host of Northern Diamonds Academy and EPP players against each other, with a number also playing for the Warriors.
