The Yorkshire County Cricket Club is delighted to announce the signing of England all-rounder Sarah Glenn on a two-year contract.

Glenn will join the club ahead of its elevation to Tier 1 status for the 2026 summer, moving from The Blaze.

The 26-year-old is a prolific leg-spinner and a dynamic middle to lower order batter, one capped 91 times by her country across both ODI and T20I cricket.

Derby-born Glenn has taken 112 wickets for England, including five four-wicket hauls. The majority of her international exposure has come in the T20 format.

Glenn debuted for England in December 2019 and is currently preparing for the forthcoming 50-over World Cup in India and Sri Lanka, which starts at the end of the month.

A player with big-game experience in the form of World Cups and Ashes series, Glenn has also been a regular in The Hundred and has played in Australia’s Big Bash.

Towards the end of 2023, she played for the Brisbane Heat alongside fellow new White Rose signing Jess Jonassen and has played for England alongside her new county captain Lauren Winfield-Hill.

Glenn came through the Derbyshire age-group system and made her senior county debut for them. In recent years, she has played her domestic cricket for the Central Sparks and The Blaze.

She joins a squad buoyed by their triumph in the Tier 2 Metro Bank One-Day Cup final against Glamorgan at Worcestershire’s New Road on Sunday.

Glenn has made more than 300 senior career appearances in List A and T20 cricket, scoring almost 2,000 runs and taking 337 wickets.

She is just two wickets away from the 100-mark in List A cricket. The World Cup would be the perfect stage to reach that milestone.

Glenn said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining Yorkshire – it feels like a new chapter with huge potential. Yorkshire have some passionate fans that really care about the women’s game and it’s an exciting time for the Club moving to Tier 1.

“I feel it’s the right time in my career for this move and want to push my game to the next level. I’m excited to do this next part of my journey with Yorkshire who have excellent staff. The girls work really hard on their game too who will no doubt push me to be better as well.

“I’m looking forward to working hard, learning from the staff and players here at the Club, and contributing towards the solid foundations already in place that will allow us to thrive in the professional structure.”

Yorkshire head coach Rich Pyrah said: “We are delighted to bring Sarah to the club.

“She is an outstanding cricketer and someone who has been there and done it at the highest level.

“We have a lot of very good players, but we are very young. To add her level of experience is going to be gold for us.

“What I am also really pleased about is that we are able to attract a player of Sarah’s ability so early in our journey. It proves the work we have put in to get the infrastructure and the environment right, word’s getting out about what we are doing here. That is really exciting.”
