COVID-19 is continuing to severely impact the nation. The Yorkshire Cricket Foundation is keen to continue supporting the communities in the county through its wide range of programmes covering health & wellbeing, education, participation and heritage. The Foundation is the official charity and community arm of Yorkshire County Cricket Club.

On behalf of the Foundation, its Trustees and Yorkshire Cricket, YCF Chairman Robin Smith has the following message for the Yorkshire Cricket members, supporters and community:

Dear Cricket Family,

I hope that you and your family are safe and well during these tough and unprecedented times.

I, like every other cricket and sports fan, am feeling the impact that this virus has had on sport from the professional levels, right through to club and grassroots. We all miss being able to watch, support & play sport and socialise with friends and family.

Hopefully there is light at the end of the tunnel, and all of these will return, shortly.

I am writing to you to highlight the work of The Yorkshire Cricket Foundation, the Club’s official charity. Like most charities the Yorkshire Cricket Foundation received no core funding and relies heavily on donations from the public as well as applying for grant funding.

The Foundation run a wide variety of programmes such as The Yorkshire Cricket College, Crick-EAT (tackling holiday hunger), Wicketz (youth hubs in inner cities), The Yorkshire Social Club (project supporting lonely and vulnerable adults) and many more.

The cricket season is a key time for the charity to raise funds and unfortunately this has not been able to happen due to the pandemic, meaning vital funds have been lost.

Therefore we are launching our crowdfunding appeal and asking individuals, organisations and sports fans to consider supporting the charity to enable us to continue our work in Yorkshire’s communities. The Foundation are seeking to raise £5,000 and if successful in reaching this total, Sport England have pledged to match this.

The impact the virus has had on everyone, means that the Foundation’s work in the community is more important than ever.

We would like to sincerely thank all of you who have supported the Foundation so far, no matter how large or small. Your support really does make a huge difference. All of your support enables the Foundation to keep working towards the vision of “Community without boundaries”

Robin Smith
Chair of The Yorkshire Cricket Foundation
