Yorkshire County Cricket Club is proud to announce a strengthened and expanded partnership with Ampleforth College, reinforcing the Club’s commitment to developing cricketing excellence across the county and beyond.

Building on an already long-standing relationship, Ampleforth College will now serve as the North Yorkshire hub for the performance pathway boys winter training as well as hosting games across both boys’ and girls’ squads throughout the summer. The partnership will also see further investment to help develop the coaching and training facilities at the college.

The MetroBank One Day Cup fixture between Yorkshire Women and Surrey on Wednesday 26th August will also prove to be a landmark event, with Ampleforth hosting its first ever competitive professional fixture.

The college already plays host to Ampleforth Cricket Festival each year, one of the most prestigious and popular junior festivals across England and Wales.

Gavin Hamilton, General Manager of Cricket at Yorkshire CCC, commented, “We are delighted to confirm that Yorkshire County Cricket Club will be bringing Tier 1 women’s cricket to Ampleforth in 2026. The facilities and the unique setting that Ampleforth provides will showcase the standard of outgrounds required to support the continued progression of the women’s game, and we’re very much looking forward to seeing elite women’s cricket played there.”

James Martin, Head of Pathway at Yorkshire, said, “Yorkshire County Cricket Club and Ampleforth College have enjoyed a long and successful relationship built on the shared values of sporting excellence, education, and personal development.

“Building on this established relationship, YCCC and Ampleforth College are now formalising and expanding their collaboration to create an enhanced Pathway and North Yorkshire Hub.”

Jon Mutton, Headmaster at Ampleforth College commented, “We have a very fine cricketing tradition here at Ampleforth and have invested significantly in our facilities in recent years.

“This partnership with Yorkshire County Cricket Club provides an excellent opportunity to offer the very best coaching opportunities and cricket facilities both to our own students and to talented girl and boy cricketers from across Yorkshire and beyond.”
