On winning the toss Yorkshire decided to bat first. Experienced opening pair of Dawid Malan and Shan Masood added 34 from 28 balls before the former was caught at long on for 28. Masood followed 2 overs later being caught at deep mid wicket for 21.
Will Luxton and Yash Vagadia added 79 in 54 balls however Will was also caught at long on – he made 44 from 34balls with 4 fours and a six – Vagadia made 39 from 28 (also 4 fours and a six).
Unfortunately the last 5 overs added only 31 runs for the loss of 4 wickets and we closed on 156-6.
Ben Cliff had Bhula caught at deep square in the first over but Arav Shetty and Wijesuriya added 138 for the 2nd wicket in only 91balls. Shetty reached his half century from 40 balls with 6 fours and a six and when Jafer Chohan trapped him lbw he had made 687 from 50 and added 2 fours and a six.
Wijesuriya finished unbeaten on 70 from 47 balls with 8 fours and 2 sixes as SACA reached their target with 13 balls to spare.
Game 2 saw Joe Thompson, Josh Hen-Boisen and Jack Redshaw (making his 2nd X1 debut) replace Firbank, Smith and Akhtar. Wijesuriya this time was the 2nd wicket to fall for 31 from 17 balls with 5 fours and a six – 49-2 in the 5th over.
SACA had reached 105-4 in the 13th over and ended 157-9. Chohan finished with 3-25 and Cliff 3-35.
In reply Malan and Masood were dismissed for 0 and 1 respectively. Harry Duke made 30 from 26 balls with 4 fours and Will Luxton top scored with 49 from 28 balls (9×4 and a six).
On debut Jack Redshaw made 20 from 15 balls but Yorkshire fell short being all out from the penultimate delivery for 146.
Next action sees the start of the T20 group stages away against Lancashire at WestHoughton CC on Wednesday 29th May.
