Shaik was caught at deep square leg by Akhtar off Chohan soon after the restart, 153-3 but Kai Smith and Nahal added 87 in 102 balls before the latter was caught at mid wicket by Bennison to give Akhtar his first victim – this meant that Warwickshire were 7 ahead with 6 wickets remaining. When first innings centurion Noah Kelly was bowled for 1 (121-5) a few nerves were about however Jawad Akhtar, 37 not out and Jafer Choan 17 not out guided us to the winning post.

Next week sees the start of 2nd X1 T20s with our first group game at the County ground, Derby on Wednesday and a double header at Weetwood on Friday against Nottinghamshire.
