Day 1

On winning the toss skipper, Will Luxton, elected to bat first. He and Noah Kelly opened the innings with 19 coming from the first 2 overs, however Luxton was then lbw for 14 from 11 balls with 2 fours and a six. Jawad Akhtar made 15 from 38 balls before he was dismissed in similar fashion – 54 for 2.

Harry Duke joined Kelly and they remained unbeaten at lunch: 117-2, a partnership of 63 in 89 balls. Duke 27 not out and Kelly unbeaten on 58, his half century coming from 82 balls with 8 fours and a six.

After lunch the partnership extended past a hundred but with the score on 180-2 (partnership 126 from 166) play was suspended due to thunder and lightning at just after 2pm.

Following a period of intense thunder/lightning and heavy rain play was abandoned for the day at 4pm.

Day 2

Following yesterdays torrential rain, thunder and lightning it was inevitable that today would bring a delayed start. However, it was discovered that water had got on to the wicket and the wicket ends and following urgent phone calls the ECB agreed that a different wicket could be used but the game continue from its present position, but no play before lunch.

Due to the efforts of the ground staff it was agreed that an early lunch be taken and play would recommence at 12.45pm with 79 overs remaining in the day.

Overnight Noah Kelly was unbeaten on 86 and he reached his century from 170 balls with 14 fours and a six. Earlier Harry Duke had reached his half century from 70 balls with 6 fours and they extended their partnership 188 from 259 balls before Kelly was caught at backward point for 109 from 189 balls: 242-3,

Yash Vagadia was lbw without scoring; 246-4 but shortly after being joined by Owen Smith, Duke reached a century from 118 balls with 14 fours. At tea Duke 144 not out, Smith 48 not out and a partnership of 104 from 141 balls: Yorkshire 350-4.

Immediately after tea Smith reached his half century from 81 balls with 11 fours and Duke 150 from 180 balls (21×4). Duke had made 174 from 201 balls when he was caught at point and shortly after Smith was bowled for 66 from 101 balls.

Jafer Chohan made a quick 24 from 25 balls but was caught at deep square leg and Ed Burch and Ben Cliff were both bowled for 10 and 4 respectively before a declaration came at 465-9.

Thirteen overs were left in the day but only 9 were possible before bad light brought a halt to proceedings 19-0: the 9 overs being bowled by Burch and Chohan.

Day 3

No play due to rain.

Day 4

A wet outfield delayed the start and after an inspection it was agreed that play would start at 11.30am however there were further showers. A further inspection took place and 11.30 was confirmed as the start time with 80 overs remaining.

Somerset declared their 1st innings and Yorkshire forfeited their 2nd innings leaving Somerset 447 to win.

9.1 overs were bowled before a further rain interruption at 12.08pm with the hosts 15 without loss – lunch was taken at 12.30 with a further 5 overs lost. More rain during the interval led to the game being abandoned.
