By John Virr – 2nd X1 Scorer
GAME 1
On a glorious day Yorkshire won the toss and elected to bowl first – this paid dividends on the 2nd ball of the day when Reddy was caught at deep mid-wicket by Charlie R Taylor to give Isaac Bepey his first wicket of the day.
In the 4th over Matthew Firbank was on a hat trick dismissing Rawal and Perera and in the 8th over SACA were 45-6, however a fantastic lone hand was played by Khunti who made 50 from 22 balls with 7 fours and 2 sixes and he finished 100 not out from only 53 balls with a total of 13 fours and 3 sixes. This left Yorkshire needing 150 for victory.
Joe Hayes and Owen Smith opened the innings the former completed a half century in 37 balls with 5 fours and together they added 116 in 93 balls before Smith was caught at long off for a “run a ball” 44. Hayes was lbw for 69 made from 51 balls and due to a lack of boundaries we required 22 from the last 2 overs. Will Bennison scored 1 from the first ball of the 19th over and Harry Duke another 10 leaving 11 required from the final over where Bennison hit a 2, a six and the winning 4 – YCCC win by 8 wickets.
GAME 2
Yorkshire batted first and despite losing Ali for 10, Smith and Duke added 107 in 60 balls before Duke was caught at long on for 46 from 32 balls. Smith had completed his half century from 25 balls and in total he made 83 from 44 with 8 fours and 4 sixes. When he was out we were 151-3 with 28 deliveries remaining. During that period no boundary was scored and we finished 179-5.
Bepey, again, struck in the first over and again in his second and SACA were 26-2. Khan made 25 from 16 balls but was caught at extra cover by Bennison off the bowling of Jawad Akhtar who struck again in the over to have Mohammed lbw.
Meanwhile that man Khunti was at it again and he had made 56 from 37 balls with 6 fours and 2 sixes when Bennison took the catch at mid off to give Brad Sylvester a wicket. Perera made 32 from 19 balls but was lbw to Bepey and it came down, again, to the final over to be bowled by Bepey with SACA requiring 9 to win.
Six were scored from the first 5 deliveries with 3 required from the last – Bepey kept his nerve and Sheikh was caught at point by Akhtar, Yorkshire win by 2 runs and Bepey finished with 4-28.
