With the weather forecast showing rain in late afternoon agreement was given by the relevant authorities to start the game 30 minutes early. Leicestershire won the toss and elected to bat first. After 3 overs they were 25 without loss. The 4th over was bowled by George Hill and his 1st ball disappeared for 6, however he, remarkably, bowled his next 23 deliveries conceding only a further 10 runs and taking 5 wickets (4-0-16-5).

His first wicket was caught at mid on by Joe Root and his 2nd caught behind by Harry Duke – the other 3 were all bowled – in fact he took 2 with the last 2 balls of his 3rd over – he was unable to claim a hat trick but Yash Vagadia took a wicket with the 1st ball of the next over to claim a “team hat trick”.

Vagadia also returned amazing figures taking 4-7 from 3 overs – one caught by Bean at “cow corner” and the other 3 bowled.

With the threat of rain increasing by the over, Finlay Bean made 23 from 11 balls with 5 fours; Root was bowled for 9 and Will Luxton finished 14 not out from 11 balls but it was Hill who backed up his career best T20 bowling by making 49 not out from only 21 balls (5 fours and 4 sixes) to confirm a Yorkshire victory by 8 wickets with almost 11 overs to spare.

Next action is against Durham at Burnopfield when we return to “red ball” action with a 3 day game starting on 17th June.
