GAME 1

On an overcast morning Lancashire won the toss and asked Yorkshire to bat first. Noah Kelly opened the innings with Jonny Tattersall and they added 29 in 27 balls before the latter was bowled by Jack Blatherwick for 17 from 16 balls. Kelly was then stumped for 21 from 23 deliveries, 81-2 from 9 overs.

James Wharton made 10 from 8 before being caught at extra cover, however Will Luxton played a selection of shots reaching his half century from 32 balls with 5 fours and a six – he had added 30 at a run a ball with Harry Duke before the rain called a halt to play with Yorkshire 128-3 from 16.4 overs – Duke 11 not out from 16 and Luxton 59 not out from 38 deliveries.

Due to the amount of rain that fell both this game and the scheduled friendly were abandoned at just after 2.50pm.

Next 2nd X1 game is another T20 Group game v Derbyshire at Sheffield Collegiate on Thursday 29th May due to start at 1pm.

Match Report: Yorkshire 2nd XI vs Essex, 2nd XI Championship

Essex won the toss and elected to bowl. Finlay Bean and Will Bennison opened cautiously adding 33 when at the end of the 10th over the bowler Newman got a touch on a straight drive from Bean and unfortunately Bennison was out of his ground – run out for 18. Harry Duke was caught at slip for 3 and Jawad Akhtar departed in the same way for 6.
