By John Virr – 2nd X1 Scorer

Losing the toss Yorkshire were asked to bat first. Owen Smith was lbw for 5 in the second over but Yash Vagadia and Noah Kelly added 29 in 28 balls before Vagadia was taken at short fine leg for a run a ball 17.

The biggest partnership followed as Kelly was joined by Harry Duke – they added 71 in 63 balls, however Duke was caught behind for 32 from 36 balls and shortly after Jonny Tattersall was caught for 5. Kelly completed his half century from 46 balls and was bowled for 53 from 49 with a four and a six which possibly showed how difficult shot making was.

Further wickets fell and at the close of our 20 overs we posted 128-7.

A returning Ben Cliff had Fonseka caught at mid off but George Bell and Harry Singh added 31 in 20 balls before the latter went for 37 from 32 balls. Arav Shetty made 31 from 33 balls but scoring was equally as difficult for our hosts and it came down to the last over before Chapple hit the winning run to gain a 6 wicket victory.

Our final group game is against Durham at the Riverside on Wednesday 9 th July with a 2pm start.
