Following overnight rain it was thanks to the ground staff that play was able to start on time. Yorkshire fielded 3 new trialists but unfortunately a 5 wicket defeat ensued to a much more experienced Derbyshire side.

Being inserted Noah Kelly was caught behind for 5 and Jawad Akhtar lbw for 4 as we struggled to 26-2. Daniyaal Khan and Joe Pocklington steadied the innings adding 68 in 59 deliveries before the latter was caught at short fine leg for 29 from 32. Khan had reached a very good half century from 34 balls with a four and 4 sixes but unfortunately he fell in the same over caught at long on for 59 from 40.

Joe Hayes finished not out on 30 from 17 balls but only 38 runs were added in the last 5 overs as we posted 134-5.

Harry Came hit a four and a six from the first 4 balls but was caught at extra cover from the final ball of the first over; 13-1. Luke Young had Wagstaff lbw with his first delivery (54-2) nut Brooke Guest was joined by Basra and together they added 53 in 40 deliveries before the former was stumped by Noah Kelly off Jawad Akhtars bowling – he made 44 from 33.

Pocklington had Khunti caught and bowled for 1 but Basra finished 42 not out from 25 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes as Derbyshire wrapped up victory with34 balls remaining.

Next action is Tuesday 3rd June with a double header at Worksop College against Nottinghamshire.
