The YCF Indoor Cricket Cup 2023 is under way with a thrilling competition set for this year as we see the action-packed soft ball competition take place across a number of areas in Yorkshire.

For the 2023 winter season our Indoor Cricket Cup – part of our core cities programme and following on from our league competitions in October and November – will run in Leeds, Bradford, Kirklees and Sheffield and for the first time will also expand to Keighley, with 41 teams taking part in total.

Our cup competition in Leeds sees a major expansion with 16 teams set to battle it out – up from six last year, while Kirklees will field eight teams and six teams will take part in the Sheffield and Bradford competitons and Keighley will have five teams.

The winners from each area cup competition will go on to battle it out in the YCF Yorkshire Indoor Cricket Cup 2023 final in March.

Sohail Raz, Diverse Communities Manager at the YCF, said the aim of the Indoor cup competitions is to continue to grow and provide a safe place for people to step outside their comfort zone and take part in an enjoyable cricket match for around an hour each week.

Sohail said: “The YCF Indoor Cup for this year is larger than the previous edition. Compared to last year, when the leagues only took place in four areas, we now have them running in five.

“Our Leeds cup has 16 teams which, even from the perspective of participation, demonstrates the enormous impact the league has and how well the community has accepted it.

“An increase in teams has led to the discovery of more potential across all age groups, which has helped players improve their skill level and relationships with teammates and opposition. We are looking forward to an exciting softball competition.”
